Rockcastle Rockets State Champs!! Sara Hammond Miss Basketball

What does this have to do with football. Most people here didn't think we would beat Highlands much less Boyle County. The only given in football for the last 20 years was that we would beat Madison Southern every single time!!

I personally don't see anybody in our bracket capable of upsetting Rockcastle County if they play their A game and we only play average. I do think Manual will be a test if we don.t come out hustling

I have to agree with Rednack. The Rockets can name the margin in this one. This will be the biggest mismatch of the opening round in my opinion. I doubt the Rockets will be tested before Saturday night.

Rock won't have a win in single digits until Bowling Green!!

Congratulations to Sara. This is truly a high honor, but she deserves it. Is Sara the first Kentucky girl in history or have others made this team. Good luck the rest of the year and I hope you lead the Rockets to state championship.

Hammond is too quick for anybody her size to guard her.

I am somewhat surprised by this decision. In my opinion this will be a great boost for Bell County and a huge loss for Knox Central. Coach Mills along with Coach Saylor at Rockcastle are considered by most people in eastern Kentucky as the best defensive coaches around. Good luck to Coach Mills.

I agree with Rednack. Rockcastle is only team in 12th that could cause any damage in state tournament. Strength of region, in my opinion, is determined by how well top 3-4 teams could compete with other top teams in the state. The last couple of years I thought 12th was strong because Rock, Lincoln and Casey were all capable of playing to Saturday in the state tournament. Only 1 team in 12th is capable of that this year !!

Hammond is easily best player in state, and I think they will win state. Rocks j.v. team could make a serious run at 12th region championship. They could play their worst game of the year without Hammonds and the next team could play their best game of year and Rock would win by double digits!!

I agree with Rednack. The Hammond girl has improved tremendously over the last couple of years. If you haven't seen her in the last year or so It is worth the drive to Rockcastle to do so. If she stays out of foul trouble the Rockets will be very hard to beat.

If the Hammond girl can stay injury free and out of foul trouble their is no doubt the Rockets are one of the top 3-4 teams in the state. That being said, winning the state would require some luck and keeping her out of foul trouble. A favorable draw and some upsets of other top teams always comes in handy. I guess we will find out in March. Good luck to Sara and the Rockets

I would have to agree with Rednack, Sara has contributed more to the success of the girls basketball program at Rockcastle County than any other 12th region player in my memory. If she can lead her team to another regional championship I think she would have to be considered the best player in 12th region history.

Rocks line played a very good game in my opinion. That was very key in the eveness of the game. The Lakes brothers are becoming a force to deal with and # 63 is only a freshmen.. Wren, Saylor and King are all sophomores. Could be very good in the future. # 41 for Southwestern is a beast on defense!!

Rock played a freshmen and 3 sophomores on the line who had not been starting. I thought they played exceptionally well because Knox had one of the best lines I have seen in the last few years and Rock held their own at the line of scrimmage most of the night. # 76 is a awesome lineman.

Hate to admit it but as a Rock fan Rednack is probably on target.

I think rock will have problems with Lincolns speed. Rock has trouble with fast backs and their pass coverage is weak. Lincoln wins 21 to 12.

How did Danville get 40 points on 170 yards of offense ? Sounds like neither team could rush the ball and Rock couldn"t cover the Danville receivers. Good luck to both teams

Rock will not be able to tackle Danvilles running backs. Danville has too much speed on defense. Danville wins 35-14 with Rock scoring a late td on Danvilles jv.
