  1. This decision has shocked me. Being a Rockcastle County boy I felt like Coach Poynter had learned a lot from Coach Larkey and Coach Saylor here and was putting that same winning formula into place at Bourbon. He must have set the wrong kid out or forgot to pat someone on the back because Bourbon had one of the worst programs in the state before he got there. I don't understand why they hired him to start with if their goal wasn't to win football games!! A coach who goes there does so at his own risk!!

  2. Clark Rowe of Rockcastle County will have shoulder surgery November 4th and miss the rest of the season. Hopefully he will recover in time to get ready to play his freshmen year in college if he so decides. Clark finishes as the all time leading rusher in Rockcastle County history. Quite and accomplishment at a school that has had a long list of great running backs. That he did this with next to no passing game to help him makes it even a greater accomplishment. We at Rock all wish him the best in the future and he will be sorely missed, he is one class act on and off the field!!

  3. Very impressive win for Rock. If you had told me that Rock would lose 4 fumbles and Clark Rowe was not playing I would have predicted a loss. I was surprised Rock could drive the field and Russell could not. The Britt kid looked like he would be fast if he got loose but he needs to get in the weight room. The difference in the game was Russell County had no running game at all and Rock could methodically move the ball down the field even without Rowe. I hope they get to play again when everyone is healthy because that will mean they are doing well in playoffs. Good luck to both teams.

  4. #24 who plays linebacker for Perry Central is a flat out tackling machine. Their coach said he has not got a lot of attention from colleges. Best defensive player the Rock has seen, would be a good player at OVC level without a doubt. This was just a game dominated by Rocks line and Perry was undoubtedly hurt by the damp field. Perry Central has a lot of weapons they just didn't get them out of the holster tonight. By the way Papagrit's sons are 2 of our lineman who go both ways and they really blocked well on offense and brought the hammer on defense. Russell County will be another stern test for Rock with Clark Rowe sidelined but hopefully the rest of the team will step up like tonight.

  5. The Danville Mustangs defeated Lexington Man O'War 21-11 in eight innings to win the state championship. Behind a terrific hitting attack Danville won every game in the tournament on the 10 run mercy rule except Paducah who they beat by 9 runs. If they get average pitching they should be a contender to win the Midwest regional because I can't imagine someone will have much stronger hitting than Danville. Good luck to Coach Paul Morse and the Danville Mustangs and congratulations on a job well done.

  6. The Morse Mustangs 18u scored 6 runs in the 7th inning Sunday to defeat the Lexington 8's in the championship game at Campbellsville College 8-4. If they get good pitching I think this team has a legitimate shot to win the Legion 18u state tournament. They have several of the best hitters in south-central Kentucky and have a good solid pitching staff. They recently finished 3rd in the prestigous 36 team Firecracker Classic at Myrtle Beach which had a strong field from all over the southeastern United States. Both Morse Mustang 18u teams will be competing in the Tennessee Tech Invitaional this weekend and then the Legion tournament will start. Good luck to the Mustangs in the tournament !!

  7. Morse Mustangs 18u have John Saylor from Rockcastle Co. Hounchell. Cinnamon. Buckner and Gooch from Mercer co. Duran Elmore from Morehead state. Jacob Bodner and Casey Tiller from Boyle, Andrew Lasure . Rhodes Bell and Max Meckes from Danville, and Brandon Weir from University of Cumberlands. They also have a couple of new players I didn't know.

  8. The 12th region seems to have more than their share of good hitters this year. Andrew Lasure from Danville, John Saylor from Rockcastle and Taylor Sears from Somerset are 3 very solid batsmen. Who else would be on a short list of best hitters in the 12th region?
