The previous coach tried to work it out where he would leave PRP (where his industrial arts job was moved to) early in order to get to Moore by the end of school, but the Moore principal didn't want a head coach that wasn't in the building.I believe the previous coach at Moore left due to his teaching position being eliminated, correct? -
The team has been posted if anyone can link it. Thanks.
Congrats to Collinsworth and Grubbs for making 1st team.
Congrats to Roller for making 2nd team Defense.
Go Birds.

First time in school history (besides during the Gibson era, 8 consecutive years) that they have had 3 consecutive winning seasons.
Actually the Tigers had 4 consecutive winning seasons from 1958-1961 (6-3, 5-3-1, 7-2 and 7-2-1). Kenny Arnold coaching the 1st two and good ol' Earl Browning the second two. Also Wally Oyler had a 3 year stretch (9-3, 6-4 and 7-3) from 1978-1980.
But we see where you're coming from.

Is Boehm going to be the principal next school year? Or is he just a temp?he has had a winning record all 3 years and came in second in district 2 of 3. He was at Male back in the day with redmon and Ted Boehm is the principal at Male and he hired him at FC. May not happen but may.. ......:ylsuper:And there's no way Bob Redman will let anyone, even his principal, tell him who is going to play QB on his team. So Jeff. looks more of a fit than Manual.

I have heard Central as the destination.50 questions....Question #1Has the QB, who expressed an interest in transfering to St. X. before being denied admission, already verbally committed to a college?

Maybe Nichols and Redman switch schools.
If he chooses to coach this coming season, I'd bet on Joe going to Providence.

You know Pete, it longs for the good 'ole days at Manual, when all the negative fan support were a few "less than sober" ex-players - a.k.a. "The Jersey Guys".The banquet was a nice tribute to the "team" from this past season and YES there was a conspicuous absence or two. The absence was not unexpected since the same were usually absent when the team had pre-game meals. Once again, this makes one wonder what kind of message is being sent to the "team" and the "individual" players. Let us all remember that the whole team should be considered as opposed to a certain few individuals, that is what makes football the "ultimate" team sport. I would be willing to bet that if the scenario were different (the conflict in expected playing time had not been an issue) that there would not have been a Principal missing the Football team's banquet! Just Saying! You can read between the lines. -
The Beechies almost won 7 in a row between 1991-1997. The one they didn't win (1995) was a 28-27 loss to Mayfield.
And of course there was that highly controversial finish vs. Murray in 1994.

I'm not aware of any team playing an 11-game regular season. :idunno:
in the mid/late 70's JCPS teams played 11 game reg. seasons.
-
There have been a couple that have won with 5 losses I think that Shelby Co did it 87.
Central did it it 2007 with 5 losses.
-
Tilghman may be the first to win a title with 6 losses.

The State Title games were a week or two before the Male/Manual game when it was on Thanksgiving Day.Wrong.You have to go way, way, way, way, way, way back to when finals were played on or before Thanksgiving. I'm talking 30+ years back, if not more.
Matter of fact Eastern forfeited the state title to Male in 1960 because it didn't want to wait two weeks for the City Champion to be decided. They also didn't want the footballers to miss the start of basketball season.
Back then all of Jefferson County was the entire class 3-A, there one district with all the city teams (Manual, Male, St. X, Trinity, Flaget, Central, Bishop David, Atherton, DeSales, Iroquois and Shawnee). The County teams were divided into two (and later four as more schools opened) districts and had sub-playoffs. the County winner played the City winner for the 3-A title. The entire rest of the state were either 2-A or 1-A. This format was used from 1959 through the 1974 season, the following year 4-A was born.

Or lets make 6 more classes. :lol:Great idea! Only let the top two teams in the districts in the playoffs. It used to be that way until somebody decided it "wasn't fair" -

But teachers don't get vacation days!
They get sick and personal days.

Just under 6 minutes left - still 21-16 Central.
-
Central up 21-16 - didn't catch the time.

I think this is the year DeSales finally gets by NCC. DeSales lost to 6-A Seneca by one score and 6-A Fern Creek in OT. DeSales advances 21-13.NCC plays the 6A and 5A teams to be ready for this time of the season. I think NCC will take this one by 10.Then the P-Burg/Corbin winner will have to travel to Louisville, where DeSales will pull through.
Unfortunatly for the Colts the big, bad roadblock named Fort Campbell will be waiting at the end of the rainbow.

1st round:
#1 seeds 48-0 vs. the #4 seeds.
#2 seeds 34-14 vs. the #3 seeds.
2nd round:
11 #1 seeds got bounced.
Only 3 #3 seeds (Tilghman, Lexington Cath. & Sheldon Clark) advanced to the regional championship.
5-A is the only class to have all 4 regional championships pitting a #1 vs. #1.
Only 2 of the 16 regional championship don't have a #1 seed.

St. Xavier 38 Simon Kenton 7. Simpson will only see 100 yards if they leave him in when St. X's defensive 2's and 3's get in.

Actually Friday was only our 6th playoff win in school history (the school will be 50 next year) and only the 2nd time Western has advanced to a regional championship. The only previous playoff wins were in 2003 (1), 2005 (2), 2006 (1) and 2009 (1).That's too bad. Definitely puts them behind the eight-ball against Marion County. Hopefully the Warriors can regroup and get ready for a tough regional final, their first since 2005.Certainly without Orlando we face an uphill battle, but backup Craig Williams is a serviceable replacement. He is our QB of the future, the future just came a little sooner than we expected.
We also have big play threats in Dominic Turner (1485 yards and 15 TD's on 179 carries) and Cortez Ricketts (930 yards and 10 TD's receiving on 37 catches). Leon Melvin has 10 interceptions, despite covering the opponents best WR every game, he also 7 TD's and 300 yards rushing on 31 carries.
Both lines are solid with 4 seniors on the offensive side and all 4 down defensive linemen are seniors as well.

Gary was the OC at Manual from 00-07 and the head coach at Atherton from 94-99. As long as he is at J-Town, they will continue to get better.Gary Weiter is in his second season. His first Jtown team went 3-7; this year's 7-5 mark was the school's first winning mark since 1992. Very impressive feat at a school that hasn't had much to cheer about on the gridiron in a long time. -
A great win, but a costly one. Western QB Orlando Wilson suffered a season-ending injury tonight.
-
If Central's coaching staff is "deficient" don't you think it would have shown at least ONCE in the last 10 playoff games? The talent that Central has and has had can cover up a lot of coaching deficiences.
