All you have to do is look back over the past 25 years or so to know what to expect from the Bell/Corbin match-up. Throw records out the window. Sure there will be a talent edge by one team or the other on a given year, but it will be one that the fans and players will be sure to enjoy.
My biggest disappointment when looking at the Hounds schedule is not seeing North Laurel. I feel like Coach Larkey has his team on the rise so I'm suprised he dropped Corbin.
-
Sometimes it's more important to let the hiring process take its course than to break a story. That's the difference between a journalism and a rumor mill.
-
Look for the Jags to pull off a suprise here....Brad Sizemore will wind up coaching at North while they duke it out over politics at South.
-
I hope you're right....who's it gonna be? Use that crystal ball you have give us you Fear"Les" prediction.
-
Less than 10 applications? Thought there would be more for this job.
Great job...but lots of politics (as is the case for most schools in this area). I think they would be crazy not hire Sizemore. With that in mind, look for M. Vernon or Parrot to get the job.
-
They did make it to region and lost to Bell who won the Region.
Sorry I misspoke. However, they should have won the district. Opportunities when both of the perennial favorites are down are few and far between.
-
Interesting turn of events down there, you go 18-10 and get a pink slip???
Don't see a in house canidate down there, but would not be surprised if they didn't have a canidate in mind. This late you better have somebody ready to step in quick.
18-10 isn't all that bad. However, the failure to make it to the Regional Tournament in one of the few years where Whitley should have been better than both Corbin and South is.
-
Didn't Whitley County go 18-10 last season?
Yes they did. However, it was a vast underachievment based on the strength of the District last year. Let's be honest...Whitley should have won the District. Corbin and South were both down from previous years and Whitley should have had one of their better teams in recent memory.
-
Congrats to Coach Wright. Expect to see SW in contention as long as he's there. Also, write it down....Brad Sizemore will be the next Head Coach at SL.
-
Coach Baker has been relieved of his duties as Head Coach at Whitley County. Interesting day in the 13th Region...Perhaps the "Best" and "Worst" Head Coaches won't be on the sidelines for their respective former schools.
-
Congrats to Bobcats....represent the 13th well!!!
-
Also hearing Paul Rains will be on staff...any truth to this>?
None. Rains will be leading a team in Central Ky next year.
-
Steve Wright...South Laurel
-
I'm taking the Dogs...Bulldogs that is. The Hounds are a year or so away from being a state power again. On the other hand, Hazard has a great shot at making it to Bowling Green.
-
I asked around and was told that Hoover will be moving to South Carolina to play football in the fall with an Elite level quarterback. Is there anyone who can verify this information?
He has in fact moved to S. Carolina.
-
The botttom line is Powell tried to pull a fast one. He was looking for a reason not to play after finishing up late on Monday night. Do I think NL could have gotten a bus?...Yes, if they had really wanted too, but the game was cancelled so I think that while it feels kinda dirty they were within the rules not to play. The bottom line is Middlesboro got what they deserved. Its flat out bush league not to do everything you can do to play a tournament game. Besides, why would you want to put the 13th region at a disadvantage in ther State Tournament? It seems to me that you would want your team to be as fresh as possible when they arrive in Lexington. Oh well, karma is a funny thing.

Has he ever coached the type of players Holmes has?
Coach Booher will do a great job with kids from any background. He's not from the Eastern KY and he was able to get through to those kids and he'll do the same at Holmes. I am proud to know him and would let my child play for him in any sport at any any school.... he's that good (Coach, not my child...lol)

Thanks for the correction. Got to know coach Hicks after he came to Scott County but thought it was a neat story line. Should have said give or take a year!:thumb:
No worries...just poking a little bit.
-
Scott is the heavy favorite and should be. However, I think that playing them in the first round is the only possible advantage the Hounds have. If Scott gets settled in at Rupp it'll be hard to get them to leave.
-
You're all right...it was 1991. Also, Tony was a freshman. Good start to the thread...just need better research.
-
OMG!!! That's terrible!!!!
-
I'm really excited to see this one.
NL has nothing to lose as was the case last year. They are far and away the one of most improved teams in the region from the beginning of the season till now. They will give Corbin all they want and then some.
Corbin is the favorite and I look for Wilson and Johnson to have big games. In my mind, the key is who will be the 3rd scorer. If Smith or Manns plays like they're capable of then I think Corbin will pull it off. If they don't...could we see the Jags in Rupp?
Should be another exciting Regional Finals!!!
-
Congrats to NL. They will give Corbin all they want and then some Monday night.
-
Alrighty then...thanks.
Who will get the South Laurel job?
