I really feel sorry for our young student athletes in today's world. When I was a kid (a long time ago), and someone wanted to post inaccurate or untrue information they usually wrote something on a wall or started a stupid rumor.
But in today's silly world, these young kids get to read the stupidity of disgruntled parents over the internet. That's where our society has slipped to! All because of a game!
I can now see where a few of the student athletes, now at SK learned what they posted on Travis's facebook and the distasteful texts that were sent throughout the week. It was an interesting week to say the least!
You see its not the 3500 yds or 45 tds that makes me proud! But the way a 14,15,and now 16 year old kid handles the stupidity of adults that do not know how to lose!
I think Neerfan needs to direct some of those people to the 1981 state championship trophy at SK. Those guys all had character. Learn sportsmanship.

He will also attend games on an unofficial visit at the University of Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Kentucky and may attend a Rutgers game as an unofficial visit. Thanks for the kind words in your post.

Was a little shocked also! ( 4 touches for 43 yards 2nd half for Elliott)

So if this "smash mouth" football style is so great , how many state titles have they recieved by playing this style of football ?
Louisville St. Xavier has won a few with a rush heavy offense! (I think they had 6 pass attempts against SK)

Congratulations to Trevan and the Brown family! Met his mom and dad this summer at a camp. Very nice family!:thumb:

There is no doubt about it ! Dvontae is a excellent RB!:thumb:

I'll be right back! I have to get to Barnes & Noble Booksellers to see what the 2010 Kentucky Football Yearbook has to say about this District 6 rankings! Those people usually get it right!

SK shut down all 3 of these running backs!
2009-137 yards rushing, 65 yards receriving = 202 Yards total offense (15 yrs old)
2008-85 yards rushing (14 yrs old)
Travis has 287 yards total offense against SK and was still riding a bike at this time, wasn't even old enough to drive himself to the game!

Well you think I would know what he is being recruited at! But let me educate you a little. The average 40 time for NFL RB is 4.62. The college coaches of today use a system they call a speed score. Calculated by multiplying the players weight by 200, dividing that figure by his 40, taken to the fourth power.
When you run a 4.57 or 4.60 timed by a college coach it turns a lot of heads. And when you are over 200 lbs they really like it!
Not to compare Travis to a NFL athlete because he's not. I will compare his speed score with two well known RB's. Bernard Scott Cin Bengals 4.56,200 lbs, Jovan Ringer Tenn Titans 4.60,205 lbs and Travis 4.57, 203 lbs. All three speed scores are about the same. As far as his speed and quickness that's not even a question! ( top shuttle at UC also)
As a parent I don't care what position he ends up at! But I do know what he is being recruited at!
The recruiting process today is a lot different than it was in 1957 or even the 80's when uncle Bob timed his nephew in the back yard and told everyone he ran a 4.4!

I talked to Travis Elliot's grandpa and he said UK scouts are recruiting Travis big time that he is UK's top 2012 recruit.[/QUO
For what fullback? No chance Elliot can play tailback in the SEC.. His hips are way to stiff and he isn't fast enough. I do think he could possibly play fullback though..
His grandpa doesn't know anything about his recruiting but I sure do!
Univ.Cincinnati (RB), N.C.State (RB & LB), Univ of Kentucky (RB), Univ of Virginia (LB), Ohio Univ (RB), Western KY (RB), Murray State (RB) and EKU (RB)
Also saw Patrick Towels at UC and the kid is a great QB! His dad is a very nice man and I wish him and Patrick all the best!
By the way coach Jones is a super guy and also coach Archer at NC State!
(To question a kid with a sub 4.6 40 is funny)

Nike combine says he's 4.81.
University of Kentucky says he's 4.57 with 33" vertical and a top 3 shuttle of all athletes at the camp! Just ask Joker!

Congrats! Matt

Congratulations Jorden Hansel! Ball State and Coach Parrish are getting one of the best O-line guys in the state! (I think the best )
I know Jorden will love Ball State! My son is a student-athlete at Ball State and he loves it!
Enjoy the moment as I know this is a great time for Jorden and his family. It's an outstanding achievement!
Again congratulations and looking forward to watching you next year on Saturdays in Muncie! You have made a great choice!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rudd family. Andy was a great mentor to my child and many others throughout the Northern Kentucky football family!

Most of Henry Clay's skilled position speed comes from young players who did not play in last year's playoffs against Ryle and Boone County.
I want to make something clear. I think this year's Henry Clay football team has tremendous potential. They are starting first year varsity players at quarterback, running back, and two of the three receiver positions. I do not think the are a world beating team in Class 6A. I do think as these kids develop and get more experience, they can be a threat to go deep into the playoffs.
And yes......their speed in the skilled positions will present lots of match up problems for opponents, especially later in the year as some of this speed gains experience and has a better compass for where they are wanting to go on the football field.
All this is true! I have seen Henry Clay's young skilled position players at combines and showcases on the local and national level this year.
HC is already a top 6a contender for the 6a title this year and over the next two years there will be many sleepless nights for opposing coaches trying to figure a game plan to contain their great speed and skill!
I will say this! I have mentioned this kid in previous posts throughout the year.
If the Miller kid reaches around the 6'1" 185 lb range, he will not only be the best WR in the state but also one of the best WR's in the country!
I have seen some of the best underclassman this past summer (FLA,Texas, and Calf)and I am most impressed with Vinny Miller!(great speed, hands, quickness, routes and body control)

Why all the talk and discussion about these young men playing football at the D1 level in college ? Who's to say that they will not play at a different level once they reach that point in their life? Who's to say that they will want to play football at all after high school? It is my humble opinion that all this talk and rhetoric about a high school athlete playing at the D1 level does a huge injustice to that athlete. Why not let the primary focus of discussion be about what they are doing now in their high school careers and let the chips fall where they may?I totally agree!!!!

Highlands wins this one! But Beechwood gets better as the year goes on and by District play will be on their game. The BW coaches are some of the best! Coach Rash is one of the hardest workers in NKY and is probably in his office as I type this!
Good luck Beechwood (Highlands is real good! But the BW kids will learn alot from this one)

Breathitt Co - 28
Prestonsburg - 21
Fugate may get 3 games worth of stats this game! (heck of a back)

Clyde you just dont know all the facts of this and you seem like a great fan!

What I saw at the Highlands/Ryle game last Friday night was kids playing with lots of intensity and passion!
To the Highlands fans and players thank you for a great game. Highlands has a special program and great fan support!
To the Highlands coaches that made the great comments about my young sophomore thank you very much! It means alot coming from class coaches as yourself!
Good luck on your season and see you in October.
One more thing the Roller kid is an great LB and my son enjoyed talking to him after the game. They both got to know each other on a personal level for 4 qtrs.
Great job both teams!

I also agree coop! Mr Collinsworth and Mr. Simpson are great backs with class! (Top of the class in NKY) They both play for class programs with great coaches. I do know Jeff at SK and also some assistant coaches at Highlands. Coach Dale always had great things to say about my oldest child and I hold him in high regards.
The thing that puzzles me coop is how you can make a comment about class!
For a 15 year old child and a family that was put through the rumor mill in Northern Kentucky this past summer over a lie that was created by a couple of students at a rival high school.High school kids do that sort of thing coop! (start rumors) But when adults do that coop (make comments about the lie or rumor) I would consider those people to have no class!
I think all good parents and football fans would agree that BGP was designed to make positive comments about these young athletes in our area and not use this as a forum for their dislike of a certain player or school!

I think Ryle learned a lot in the first half of the Cooper game! If you let your opponent hang around and gain confidence and momentum you set yourself up for a dog fight or even a loss!
Now with Ryle being in the driver's seat in Northern Kentucky 6A and Ryle's strength being the power I offense! It would be beneficial for Ryle to grab the momentum early, doing what they do best. Both running and passing out of their most effective formation.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out when called correctly Ryle has less 3 and outs, opens up more playmaker's and also put's a 210lb downhill RB 7 yds deep instead of from a dead stop. I think this game could be very close or maybe a blowout.
Hopefully Ryle builds some type of momentum and lead before they work on parts of their game that needs the most work.
