  1. There have been threads about best game day atmosphere, uniforms, etc., but I have not seen any thread about traditions that are unique to your specific HS football team/school.

What are some of the special traditions that are out there around the state?

If this thread as been started, someone please link to that thread.

  2. Too big is a weak argument. They play high school playoff/championship games at the ATT Stadium in Dallas. No way a HS game is filling even the lower bowl. Most college games don't.

It is about the experience of the player, being on the big stage. Certainly more fans the merrier, but being on the field playing a game in a big time football program's field is part of the achievement of making it to the championship game.

In my opinion this is why WKU is not the best option, it's simply not a big time feel.

  3. The True 6A State Championship game has been moved back from Bowling Green to Louisville's Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium, and the date has been moved up a couple of weeks from the first week in December to the third week in November. At this time St. X., Trinity, Male, or Manual will be crowned as State Champion, with final confirmation coming two weeks later from the KHSAA. :ylsuper:

Now it's time to think about the biggest positive about this new alignment....MONEY, MONEY, MONEY....and how we are going to spend it all.

    Thank you OX:clap::clap::clap:

  4. Which is the key sentence in your post. Again, all of your points are valid, but the way I look at it is shut up and play football.

IMO, the T and X fans that are complaining are doing so because one of those teams will have their amount of semi final and state finals appearance cut back because of this. If you're satisfied with finishing runner up or making the state semi's, then I can understand why you're upset, but either way you're going to have to beat one another for the state title so why does it matter when that game is??

Again, Newcath and Beechwood were 2 of the top 3 programs in the state in 1A during the 90's and early 2000's, but nobody complained about them being in the same district.

Covcath and Highlands were two of the state's best programs for a very long time for their class and they were in the same district but nobody complaied about that either.

Don't expect any of us to feel "sorry" for T and X being in the same district, regardless of how the geographical location says they should be paired up with other teams.

Sour grapes...must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed.

  5. IMO this is what causes racism to stay in America. IMO if I was a coach I wouldn't want an article praising me just because I was a black head or assistant coach. I would want the article to discuss my team and how good I have led my team and what makes me a good coach. Being white or black doesn't make a good coach. I do agree there are a lot of good coaches who are black that may never get a chance, but to keep writing stories on this stuff just causes problems IMO. I hope the best people coach regardless of color. When schools start getting pressure to hire black coaches it is reverse discrimination. So why bother writing this stuff, it just cause problems.

There is no such thing as reverse discrimination, it's just plan ole discrimination anyway you slice. Nevertheless, I do get your point.

  6. Not RRR, but how about:

    1A 0 to 237

    2A 237 to 474

    3A 474 to 711

    4A 712 to 948

    5A 949 to 1185

    6A 1186 to 1420

These numbers would only have Trinity (1316) and St.X (1436) in 6A.

The other schools with the highest number of boys are, which would be your 5A

    Paul Dunbar (1140)

    Henderson County (1058)

    Henry County (1055)

    Lafayette (1003)

    Scott County (1027)

    Eastern (1043)

    Male (816)

    PRP (866)

    Manual (822)

Either option does not seem better the current one we have.

These are numbers from 2006-2007 school year, don't have the latest numbers yet.

  7. Early word is a turf toe injury..not sure how bad. Wouldn't have mattered though, Rocks looked distant tonight...lack of emotion. The Rocks have A LOT to work on..but the season is early, and Im not going to bet against Beatty and staff.

Injury occurred in the second quarter, they taped it and he went back in the game. Something happened on the INT that caused him to take himself out. From the sideline it looked like he had no follow through on the throw, due to the poor footing.

  8. It sounds like T was up 14-0 at half and then just completely fell apart, giving up 31 unanswered, which is very uncharacteristic of a Bean D. Did LC drive on THS or were they working with short fields from turnovers?

A little of both, they drove the opening second half possession for a score, they picked off Kragthorpe and ran it back for a TD and hit a FG working with a short field do to a Trinity fumble.

The momentum really started to change when they completed a Hail Mary for a TD with time running out of the first half.

  9. What I think this schedule allows is Trinity to play for a National Championship in 2010. Think about it, Elder and X are both at home that year...and Kragthorpe is only a junior as well as a bunch of other players coming up. It will help them run for the state title next year but the following year could be a big one for the program.

That was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the schedule. This freshman class which is so special will be JRs and a large portion of the biggest games are at home. Krags will be a SR.

There is a lot that has to go right including a 20th state championship which (in my opinion) would have to come first in order to put them in the position going into 2010 to be able to make that sort of move. One game at a time.

After many interviews with Beatty, this is what he came here to do. Beating lesser talent to a pulp is not his idea of a good win. He wants and wants his kids to play in front of the largest crowds, play the best talent and win at the highest level.
