Records are made to be broken.
What are records worth if you can't win Games:fire:

Very well said. :thumb: Too many schools in the state and nation have never been able to build successful programs because of the negative "me-first" mentalities you mentioned.
I don't know where you got "me first" from. The point I was trying to make was that the Jones boy needs his share of carries. I also think that # 23 needs to touch the ball. The problem is that Whitley has so much talent , that the coaches apparently don't know how to utilize it. They need to have more than 3 or 4 plays. And yes, it was a great win and an excellent start to the season, but if only two boys get the ball, after a couple games everyone will know what to do, it will be just like the old Whitley County . There are more than two players that need to run the ball. If you want to use the term "me first" you might want to think about using it properly. Football consist of many players, just not two.

The Powers kid does not deserve that kind of cirtisism Jones isn't the best back in the world people are just mad because Powers has out done Jones and will continue to do so throught the entire season.
It wasn't a critisism, and I don't think I would go as far as to say that the Powers kid will out do the Jones boy. First of all the Powers kid only plays offense, the Jones boy plays both ways. I agree, the Powers kid is a great player and deserves his fair share. I just beleive that the Jones boy deserves to touch the ball more than two times per game. From what I understand the Jones boy get's the ball at practice over 90% of the time. Why not try giving it to him in the ball game. Did you not see the hurt he put on the Middlesboro player when he was running the ball? No doubt he would have made a touchdown if he would have had some blocking. He has put his time in, just like the other players, and maybe a little more ( I am talking about all the weight lifting, he looks like he spends alot of time in the weight room.) It's not a contest between the two boys, they are team mates and are both out there giving their all to win, as a team. Whitley has alot of talent, the coaches should try utilizing all of it, who knows what Great things could happen.

Can anyone keep Dudley and the Boys from running the table this season? Bell looks to be very strong. Anything short of a State Championship might be a disappointment up on Log Mountain.
That will be a hard task for anyone. Good luck Bell County.

I thought Williamsburg would be better than they are.

Maybe Powers is the best of the three. Perhaps the Mboro defense never stopped the FB and Coach Black wanted to keep on keeping on until they adjusted. #33 was the back Mboro seemed to be keying on all night. Several offsides and other penalties were a result of Mboro focused in on him. I am sure the others will get their fair share of yards and touches, until then ...be happy that you are 1-0 on the season.......it could be alot worse.
It is good to see the hard work paying off for Coach Black and his team. I have always said he is the best in the area given some time and a little talent.
Powers is a good player. but not even close to the Jones Kid. MIddlesboro did key on #33 the whole game whithout making any adjustments.

Well Whitley still doesn't go in the Mountain Top 5:D, but this is a very impressive result. Well done, Colonels.
I don't think Whitley had to run more than 3 plays to get the Win. I think they have so much talent that anything will work. I would hate to be the defensive coordinator trying to to stop them. WATCH OUT MOUNTAINS.

Limited the Jackets to only 140 yards.
Lebanion and Powers had great nights. Both rushed for more than 100 yards apiece.
Is something wrong with #33 and #23, neither player had many carries. #26 carried on just about every play.

Final
Congrats to Letcher County!

:walk:This was no contest, Whitley Dominated! The DEFENSE was the Hardest Hitting Team that I have seen in a long time . Middlesboro had their 4th string QB in the game by the 4th guarter. The offense should have had about 48 points on the board, but had a few turnovers in the red zone. Congradulations Colonels to a GREAT START!

You are right they did try and pass the ball last year but that was not design, their running QB was lost for most of the season and only returned for the playoff game. Had he still be running the show I think you would have seen a different offense as the year went on, in fact it would have looked alot like what they are doing this year.
Of course their line is a little bigger and stronger this year and that helps.
I agree. FEED #26 #33 and #23 the ball and the wins will come. Why would they need to rely on the QB running the ball.

The only teams that count scrimmage wins or even consider them as substantial grounds for defeating the opponent is usually not very good. I wish people would learn that a scrimmage is a scrimmage and they have zero, absolutely zero weight in factoring in who would win the actual matchup. The worst way to do a poll is by who beat who anyway because there is always someone who beat someone else, ever heard of 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. I believe by your philosphy Jenkins should have been State Champs last year because they beat someone who beat someone who also beat someone that beat the other team that beat Louisville Central in the 3rd week.:irked:
I agree. The talent level, strength, and speed does count.

Scrimmages don't count.
The score was'nt what I was talking about. It was the talent on the field. Whitley was stronger and quicker than Pulaski and punished them physically.

10. Rockcastle County
9. Corbin
8. Prestonsburg
7. Letcher County Central
6. Pulaski County
5. Johnson Central
4. Breathitt County
3. Hazard
2. Belfry
1. Bell County
Great 1 hour show dedicated to the kids in the mountains.
Whitley county should be in the 4TH position, they destoyed Pulaski County.

Whitley County would have won more games last year if they ran the ball. They tried to be a passing team and that did not work. I think the coaching staff will run the ball this year and the results will be great.

Whitley County has a great running game. If Whitley continues to run the ball 70% of the time, they will win the district. The coaching staff has done a great job establishing the running game. Numbers 33,23, and 26 are big, strong, and fast! They will punish their opponents, if given the ball enough. Good Luck Colonels!!!!!

You are right. Whitley has 11 kids on defense that will hit you. The answer to your ? is all the above.
