Pangallo punished the Rebels the 1st time they played. (25 points) They will be all over him in this game. The Breds will need Schmitt and Lampe to keep raining 3's. Geisler will have his hands full underneath. I hope the Breds prevail and get another shot at Holmes.

Way to go Breds!!! Back to back district titles. Definately clicking at the right time. The average margin of victory over the last 9 wins is 20+ points. Throw in a 3 point loss to holmes where they had the lead going into the 4th. That is a pretty impressive run. Good luck next week.

I like the Breds in front of a full house tonight. Pangallo is a man on a mission.

Approaching 1700 views on this topic. (pretty good) I am trying to remember when the last time a school other than NCC or Highlands won the 36th district title. Does anyone know?
-
Way to go Breds!!!! NCC completely out hustled Highlands. It looked as if NCC could take it to the rack whenever they wanted. (Pangallo, Highchew, Meyer.) Derek Schmitt knocking down 4 3's. Somebody mentioned Geisler as a non-factor, I don't consider a double-double a non-factor. Jake played a great game. Grant Pangallo was pumped, the couple guys I seen trying to guard him had no answer. Should be a great game come Saturday night.
Good luck to all the Highlands Seniors.

I like NCC in this one, playing very well as of late. The Breds seem to be coming together at the right time. Derek Scmitt and Shaun Meyer will have to make the difference in this game. The Birds will be concentrating on Geisler and Pangallo.
-
I will take Pangallo playing his last home game at NCC.
-
Newcath took a 17 point lead into the half. Newport came out in the 3rd and scored 10 straight. The remainder of the game was NCC with about a 10 point lead. Geisler hitting his freethrows was the difference in this game.
-
This should be a good game. I wonder if Newport would like to reconsider seeding vs. a blind draw this year?
-
Camels will have to double-up on Geisler. That leaves someone open for a three (Pangallo). I say the Breds by 9.
-
Sloppy game. NCC needs to learn how to play with a lead. I think they were up by 7 with 3 minutes to go. I liked seeing Brannen going deeper on the bench. Pangallo with 26 points, the kid can play.
Go Breds.....

Don't know much about Dixie this year. I know they played NCC tough last year in 2 games.(Dixie won the regular season game, then lost to NCC in the tournament). I think NCC will be too much for them at home. NCC by 7.
Go Breds......

Boone will be an AVERAGE team if they don't play Popp and Gabbard together. They are two of the best guards in NKY IMO. I've seen Popp defend and no way Pangallo hits 8 threes if he is gaurding him!
Unless he was sick or hurt, I'm scratching my head why Popp didn't play more in a close game?
If I remember right, he had a few turnovers early. I know Pangallo stripped him once.
-
Nice WIN Breds!!!!! Here is the game in a nutshell. Pangallo scoring, Geisler rebounding, Derek Scmitt putting a handle on Gabbard in the 2nd half.

Way to go Dawgs !!!!! I knew Holmes would win and Rico would get MVP. The young man is a stud.
Was a little worried when J. Johnson missed the bunny. ( was thinking about the missed shot by Boone in the region.)
Dawgs are the champs !!!! Look out next year, the pack will be back.
-
KHSAA names Pittman player of the game. Come on people... when are you going to recognize Ricardo Johnson as THE MAN for Holmes! I am taking nothing from Pittman. He played great today but Holmes does not win that game without Rico Johnson.
Ricardo Johnson will be named MVP of the tournament tonight.
I agree. RICO RICO RICO !!!!!!!!
-
Way to go Dawgs !!!! Sounds like the tourny teams should have paid more attention to the way the 9th region teams played against Holmes.
Keep it up Bull Dogs. One more for the record book and bring home the trophy.
Congrats to Elliott on a fine season. Good luck to all their Seniors.
-
Holmes throwing in a clunker of a 3rd quarter (Lex Cath) seems to happen often and still end up with the "W". Holmes is also very good at defending the 3 when required. I see the Dawgs putting an end to the spectacular run that Elliott County has had this season. Holmes wins the Tourney, Ricardo gets the MVP.
Go Dawgs!!!!
-
Sounds like Rico came to play. I picked him as player to watch in the tourney. Go Dawgs!!! Bring the trophy home to the 9th.
-
I totally agree 5wide. I'd expect to see them slow the ball down and work their offensive sets, but like Bigmark said, if the opportunity to get out and run arises, they'd take advantage of it for an easy dunk.[/QUOTE]
Tezzy, that sounds really dramatic, lets see....... a dunk = 2 points.....huh......same as a lay up ?:idunno:
just kidding :thumb:
While a dunk may only put 2 points on the board, it gets the team and the fans pumped. It will also deflate an opponent.
I hope these 2 teams advance and play one another. Should be a thriller.
-
And averaged scoring around 42, and that just won't get 'r done in Lex, IMO.
Holmes scoring 42 and holding an opponent to 33, that's a winner winner chicken dinner. The teams in the 9th elect not to play Holmes in a Dunk Fest. You let the Dawgs get all jacked up on running the floor, you come out on the short end of the stick.

This thread has somehow turned into a Holmes and Elliott Coounty thread. So here is my 2 cents worth. How can Elliott travel and play in the Myrtle Beach tournament against tougher teams than most play in-state and be considered playing a weaker schedule and therefore discredited for their #'s? I realize the 16th region was down this year, but why excuse their #'s because of it? Fact of the matter is that in their only 2 losses they shot horribly and could not recover, even though they made last minute efforts to do so. For this reason I say Elliott County is going to win or lose depending on how they play, not how others play them. If they shoot well, no one beats them. JMO
A good defense will cause you not to shoot well. Holmes is the best defense going right now. (held their last 5 opponents to 33 on average) Pretty impressive.
-
I'll take Ricardo Johnson as the Sweet 16 MVP.
I'm with you on Ricardo Johnson (Holmes). The next guy I like is Justice (SV).
