  1. That was second and third teams playing at the times you stated, those boys practice as hard and sacrifise as much as the starters(all teams) how can you tell them not to play the game! By putting them in you are not trying to run the score up!

There is nothing wrong with them being in. But to throw the ball deep...it lacks class no matter how you look at it. Even if it is "Beechwood".

  2. I'm all for being a homer, but if you voted for Bellvue, you need to post why you chose Bellvue. Beechwood will score at least 40 and won't attempt running up the score, that's just how they handle things.

I dont know how you can say that they will not try to run the score up, With under 7 minutes to go and up 21, BW throw the ball deep two times aganist HC. Not what I would call handling things the way you are saying. JMO

  3. Well I think it was more for just pre-cautionary reasons and he should be fine for Friday, but in my opinion HC couldn't replace a player like Mike Sullivan on offense or defense. At times on defense he is just an absolute monster making tackles on the opposite side of the field and he leads the team in tackles. On the offensive side of the ball he is their go-to-guy in the redzone on passing plays.

But I think they would be ok if he went out with either Josh Volpenhein or Chaz Spenlau stepping in on defense and Conrad Eastin starting TE instead of splitting time with Sullivan.

Just what I was thinking. :thumb:

  4. I agree I think that like I said earlier it will be close in the first half, but HC will wear them out and pull away. Much of the wearing out will come from the running of Andy Roenker. :ylsuper:

He is a load. And I heard TE and DE Mike Sullivan was out at practice today? Do you or anybody think this could effect the game heavily? I feel Conrad Eastin could step in very well if needed.

  5. I could not agree more. This team is embaressing in that aspect. Your captain, team leader on D.. nobody strikes back. That's like someone throwing at Jay Bruce's head and our pitcher do nothing.

Yes, I mean I'm not expecting someone to go into a coma, but if that my teammate I would think you are head hunting with revenge in mind. That wasn't just some cheap shot with no effect, he is done for the year. I look to see Hines taking a few pretty rough shots next time we play the them, no dirty shots, but something extra every play.

  6. He's fine, guess he was just a little shook up. But I see many post on saying watch Newport to come out aggressive in this one. Well don't expect HC to exactly "lay down" and take it. I think that HC is one of the more physical teams in NKY. After all there theme is "Lay da Wood":thumb:

All true, HC will, if nothing else, play physical and not lay down. Koz will not allow them to come out overconfident and flat. look for this to be a workmens like game where Newport will have its plays, but if HC comes ready, no reason why they don'y win. The skill level is much different IMO.

  7. Riley and Dom Johnson were the only kids who started and played for that matter as juniors on the JV level. Pittman, Arnold, and Jaydale Herndon starting JV isn't that big of a deal considering Pittman was a soph and Herndon and Arnold were Freshmen.

I wouldn't really consider those players varsity outside of Johnson and Riley considering they were upperclassmen. Willie Slusher also played JV as a junior but came off the bench. The majority of Holmes JV team was freshmen and sophomores.

I'm pretty sure Heardon was a Soph last year and a Junior this year. He attended HC his freshman year and transferred to Holmes.

  8. Maybe no flag, but I could see a nice fine coming Ward's way. You could tell that Rivers was seeing some stars, another terrible moment during this terrible season. I'm glad Dexter gave Ward a nice shot on the TD.

It should have happened earlier. HAve some pride for your team. No cheap shots from behind. But the team needs to take that kind of stuff personal. The Bengals have no fire behind them, they lay down. Do you think Polamalu would have let one of his teammates be hit like that blind-side and the guy basically not be punished?

  9. It looks as if Beechwood "came out and punched HC in the mouth" !

They did, BW is a very good team. HC held ther own but need to step it up to the next level. PLAYCALLING HAS TO GET BETTER!!!! And if your quote

"Beechwood came out and punched HC in the mouth"! is a shot at my saying that Lloyd was hit in the mouth by HC last week then well...ok? But BW should win the 1-A title, very physical team. Good luck in the future. :thumb:

  10. Just for this upcoming season right? Or are you talking throughout his whole UK career??

Yea just for the upcoming season. I see him as a sixth man next year if everyone stays, and a starter if not. Definatly a starter his Junior and Senior year.

  11. That statement brings back memorys of how he turned it on against Lexington Catholic last year in the 4th quarter (Or was it OT?) Either way, he was unstoppable when he took the situation into his own hands! Can't wait to watch him over the next few years!

Can't wait!! But I see him as the 3rd or 4th guy off the bench.

  12. It's not like HC fans don't do the same...

You have a point, I have been guilty. I wouldn't call it bashing though, I have real respect for Lloyd and it's fans....I just love to argue with them. I see this game being closer than people are saying. But I do think Beechwood has the edge. 28-14 Beechwood....right now.

  13. C'mon...why is he wrong? Because in his opinion Dayton and Ludlow are terrible. You said if they were in another district they'd make noise down state. What's the old saying..."If you want to be the best, beat the best" or something along those lines. Beat Beechwood and/or NCC and that respect will come. Until then (even if I may not necessarily agree) Eta is entitled to his opinion.

When the question is who is the best RB in NKY, you're going to get an apples to oranges comparison. I'm sure all the kids mentioned are really good athletes and people. You just can't really answer the question. Different schools, different classifications, different schedules, different teammates(sizes and strengths), different coaching....just to many variables to come up with a concrete "BEST" RB.

Conner's been around for a few years and if he stays healthy and plays in all the games, then his statistics are the measuring stick for NKY RB's.

Would Buckler start at RB if Conner played at Bellevue? Would Buckler start at RB if he went to Highlands? While I'm sure he's a fine young man and a very good athlete, it's hard to compare and get an answer everyone can live with and agree who's number 1.

He could very possibly be the fourth guy behind Conner, Crawford, and Head. That should put this convo into perspective for the Buckler Homers.

  14. When March roles around anything can happen no matter who you start or who comes of the bench. So I wouldn't be suprised if they did get beat, both teams well have a bright red target on their chest and maybe get to much glory considering that we still have a season to be played which means there will be injuries and suspensions for every team to count into factor. For Scott County how about Just getting out of the region Lexington Catholic, Bryan station, Dunbar, Henry Clay are all capable of beating Scott County so lets hold the horses on being challenged that answers for itself. As for Holmes proably won't be challenged but anything can happen but odds are they'll be at Rupp come March.

I'm just asking questions here guys. :ylsuper: Figured I would get some feedback.

  15. That's a formation Lloyd runs SOMETIMES... They don't run it every game either. It's mostly just trying to get our playmakers the ball. Coach Lucas doesn't like to over-use it though... Seydrick tends to cramp up a lot. Haha

Got ya. But it definatly could be a good backup plan, maybe let Herthel get in the backfield a little, he definatly has the speed to get to the edge.
