  1. This is a great win for PCC. Some of the top teams in the nation was at

the 14th Marshall Co. hoopfest along with some of the top teams in the state.

    PERRY CENTRAL STATS:

    AMIS: 16 PTS 6 ASST.

    NOBLE 10 2/3POINTERS

    SALYERS 7 PTS. 8 REBOUNDS

    MARTAIN 8 PTS 7 REBOUNDS

    MULLINS 9 PTS. 7 REBOUNDS

    BREWER 4 PTS

    CORNETT 2 PTS

    SIZEMORE 2 PTS

  2. Final from the Fast Lanes Tipoff Classic from Inez. Clark County had a couple of looks from 3 in the last 10 seconds, but were unable to connect...

Good game perry held their own against the bigger team GRC. Perry rebounded the ball very well tonight. Amis did a good job running the point and the kid that inpress me the most was the Salyers kid that transfer in from Breathitt last yr. He led Perry in scoring with 11 pts. and had about 8 or 9 rebounds coundn't beleive the Bobcat's from Breathitt let this one get away.

He looks better than any of our inside players from Breathitt.

    Good list LMB.

In my region, the 14th, I think Knott Central might have a slight edge over Perry Central. Hazard is probably a distant 3rd. The region champion should come from one of those 3.

Knott's got most of their team back from last year, and have picked up a 6'6 transfer from June Buchanan that should help.

Sorry to disagree with you but PCC also has most of their team back also with the Salyers kid moving in to the starting lineup from being the sixth man last yr. and also the Martain Kid that came over from Hazard he is also a great addition. This summer PCC led S. Valley the whole game and just got beat at the end of the game when Salyers got elbow in the head and had to go out of the game to the hospital, so in maybe PCC could maybe be the best team in the 14th but time will tell. KCC and PCC is by far the top two teams. JMO:thumb:

  4. Come on now, under Coach Holcomb who went 98-99 12-2 and 11-2 with out Coach Chapman. I see your point Coach C. is a awesome coach and Pike Cent. will be a better program under his leadership, but Coach Holcomb did not get to where he is at with out some great coaching of his own. Breathitt Co. will be fine the season is not over with yet. Watch for a Bobcat run in the playoffs this year.

You misunderstood me, I didn't say Coach Holcomb wasn't a good or great Coach, because he is. His record speeks for itself and also he is a nice guy. But Coach Chapman is a defense wizard and if you know anything about sports defense is where championships is won. And Coach Holcomb will miss Coach C. badly. JMO:thumb:

  5. I questioned that after he left, but I never thought it would have made this big of an impact.

Afew yrs. back Coach C. left and went to pikeville and the bobcats really went down hill until he came back the following yr. then they went on to win the state title in 02. He was a very inportant part of this team. Also the Noble kid and the Huff kid really hurt when Noble wouldn't play for Holcomb and the Huff kid transferd to Letcher Central which is doing really well in a rebuilding yr. I wonder what Supt. Turner is saying now.

  6. I'm no Hatcher fan but he is from the old school and he gets all the ability out of his players and with the starters he has coming back and the Salyers kid moving up from the sixth man position and the addition of the kid that came from Hazard this team has to be at the top of the region. Knott Co. is there too but from what I seen last yr. PCC shut down Cox and Stamper each time they played. JMO.

  7. I've read where that KCC is the favorate to win the region this year, but I did get the chance to watch Perry Central a few time's this summer, they played Shellby Valley at Pikeville and just lost by 2 pts. and then went to Northern Ky. and won that Tourn. up there. With Martain and Salyers moving into the starting lineup teams is not going to be able to just stay on Noble and not worry about the outside shooting like they did last yr. With Martain he is a great outside shooter as well as Mullins has really come along with his outside shooting as well as driving to the basket. Salyers also played well this summer with a couple of games he had over 20 pts. and 10 rebounds. In my opion PCC will be better than they were last yr. I think that PCC and KCC will be the favorate this yr. But after watching PCC play this summer against some of the best in the state I would have to put them at the top.

    Please anyone give their response!:isurrender:

I believe he will be given time to get going. The admin. is behind him and his biggest problem has been some of the players left from previous years had such bad attitudes they couldn't handle the discipline. The school wants a new direction and needed someone who would not back down to the kids or the parents. Hang in there Coach Hall:clap:

Coach Hall was let loose from Breathitt Co. 3 yrs. ago after having a off yr. The Supt. Mr. Turner brought in Steve Banks and that was one of the biggest mistakes ever. Coach Hall does a good job and I hope the ones down in Station understands what a good Coach and person Mr. Hall is.

  9. Possibly. They certainly have a chance...but Hazard or PCC typically play their best in the postseason and any team that wants to break through likely will have to beat them both to get there.

I'm not discounting KCC chances. I just wouldn't pick them.

Of course, its a little early to say. Hazard and PCC aren't above having down years and these teams rosters may end up looking different than we project.

The word around the mountains here is that Whitaker from Hazard is transfering to a private school. PCC is returning 4 of thier top 6 players and KCC is also returning most of their players but it will most likely come down to these 3 teams again.:thumb:

  10. Must not be too many KCC fans on here because that was one of the worse called games have seen in awhile and haven't read too many complaints. Cox and Stamper both fouled out early in 4th quarter I believe,(Cox for sure) and don't know what the stat line was but sure didn't seem like PCC shot or made many field goals in the entire second half, everything from the foul stripe. Does anyone know how many free throws they shot in the game? Thought there would be a lot upset, evidently not too many KCC fans on here. Great environment, though not impressed with the gym or getting in and out of the parking lot. Whoever said that was the easiest place in the 14th to get out of must park at the church across the street because was easliy a 15 minute wait to just get out of the parking lot not to mention the town.

Don't try and start something that is not true. The game was a great game and the foul's were pretty even. I know Knott had 3 to foul out and Perry had 1 to foul out but the rest of the starter's had 4 fouls for Perry. Hat's off to PCC and KCC, it was a great game for both teams and fans to watch. So let it go this game could have went either way. Go PCC.:thumb:

  11. When I got there a couple mins. after the game started it was 12-2 and LCC never looked back. LCC was up about 20 at halftime and about 30 some in the 3rd and the LCC Coach took the starter's out starting the 4th quarter and Breathitt cut into the lead a little but LCC could have won by 40 if they wanted to. If they play like they did tonight they will give Hazard all they want. Go PCC.:thumb:

  12. It was a big win for Perry Central who played a great game. With Maggard as the big horse taking MVP honor's to Josh Salyers coming off the bench in place of the injured D. Amis to hit 2 big free throws in the fourth to tie the game and then Chris Noble with a big 3 at he end of the game to put PCC up by one with Maggard hitting 2 big free throws to seal the game moments later.:thumb:

  13. In my opion I think this yrs tourn. will be a 14th region semi. final, with PCC and Hazard in the Final. I watch some of the Hazard and PCC games in the 5th/3rd tourn. along with KCC and Hazard and PCC is at the top of the region along with LCC. Knott Co. does not have the size to complete they are to small, you could see that this past weekend the way the was manhandled. But that is just my opion.:thumb:
