  1. They had a 9 point lead with under 3 minutes to go in regulation against Male last night.

I am hoping for a Saint X Trinity matchup in the first round of the region!

I remember that game All Tell, I believe it was freshmen year at X.

It was going to be tough for X to make it out of the region, but finishing runner up in the district is going to make it even that much harder. For X to advance they have to find a way to finish teams off when they have the opportunity.

  2. They've got three seniors and two juniors; the rest of the varsity squad is all freshmen and sophomores.

Really got going last year with a supremely talented freshman class that's now sophomores. Brandon Wells, Jaalam Hill, Kevin Kirby and Tony Washington are all more than capable of going off for a ton of points on any particular night. They've also got a freshman forward, Devon Cooper, who at times has looked like the best player on the team.

But the senior leadership is definitely there as well. They're going to miss Roderick Maddox and guard Semaj Ingram big time when they graduate, but the pieces are there for Waggener to continue its resurgence.

I believe Waggener was even missing a couple of those key players last night in the win, but I'd have to check the box score again to remember exactly who.

And the posts below are correct, the 27th district is Trinity, Waggener, Atherton, Seneca. Ballard is out in the 28th with Eastern, Christian Academy, Kentucky Country Day and Walden.

The 8 teams most likely to make up the 7th region tournament are:

    Ballard

    Eastern

    Trinity

    Waggener

    Manual

    Central

    Saint X

    Male

  3. I've always wanted eight 4-minute quarters. Leaves more time for bathroom and concession breaks.

Also all games should be played under "make it, take it" rules.

Seriously though, I don't see why we need to change anything, except maybe make some kind of effort toward more consistent officiating. And even that gets overblown sometimes. As long as there has been basketball there have been good refs and bad refs. I don't really see that changing.

I just can't see any reason for any drastic changes to the game.

If you played 8 quarters, that would be 2 games.

  4. Both the Seth and the Litkenhous rating systems do not reward Kentucky teams for winning or losing against out of state teams. The reason for this is that it is impossible to properly rate every team in the United States. Ballard and Trinity played a lot of very good out of state teams in December but none of their victories counted toward their rankings. Bullitt East and Saint X played all their games against Ky. opponents and also won holiday tournaments which added points to their Seth rankings. This is a formula based on criteria which is explained thoroughly at the beginning of each season, with current SETH Rankings available on a weekly basis. Bullitt East and Saint X may not be top 4 teams in the city but they are both in the elite 8 in the LIT.

We shall see! BTW, I am not Jerry Wyman or employed by JCPS
