  1. It usually takes a lot longer to set up but I've been grilling on an open fire for 3-4 years now. I use only hickory, oak or cherry seasoned split firewood. I have a couple different grills my dad and I have made. They are basically angle iron and expanded metal for the grates. I grilled 75 ribeyes for my cousins wedding this past weekend. It was the largest grilling job I've ever taken on but it was a fun 2.5 hours of grilling.
