1. As of yesterday, Donna is doing better but showing signs of her body rejecting the liver. The doctors think that steroids will take care of that problem. She is on quite a bit of medication which make her tired. She has had many visitors and the family yeaterday requested that only immediate family be allowed to see her. You know how Donna is, very respectful, she wants to be awake for all who come. Keep her in your thougths and prayers.

  2. I just heard this morning, from a very reliable source, that the AD did in fact let her husband go as a coach and Coach Burger resigned to spend more time with her daughter. Coach Richey would be very fun to watch.

Where did you get the information that she resigned because of her daughter?

From the information I got, she is tired of the situation and needs to get away from basketball.

  3. That would be a mistake, why waste time even considering her? They've already had a first year/inexperienced coach and we seen how that worked out. However, I do feel that the Administration had her in mind when they hired Rosen. By keeping Rosen a couple of years, this gave her two more years of coaching experience at the middle school level. So now is she ready, no way. They shouldn't even entertain this option. Move on to more qualified applicants.

Now how would it look if the AD's daughter got the head coaching job?? Come on people, get real!!

  4. The Loyce Meadows winner was Stephanie Brennan of Beechwood High School.

Also, the banquet is given by the Northern Ky High School Girls Basketball Coaches Association. It is made up of any Northern Ky team that wants to participate.

The Divisions are based off of the conference schedule from the NKAC. When the re-districting took place, it put some schools in the 8th and 10th regions and most of those schools have chosen to still participate in this association.

  5. I was not surprised. This has been a recurring theme with the W-V girls program that goes back well into the previous coaching staff.

What do you mean by "recurring theme"? Do you mean that W-V gets beat by teams that are bigger, strong and fasters than they are?? I don't think the previous coach would have had any solutions. District 32 --Scott County --Simon Kenton-What is the difference? All that the district change did was trade Scott Co. for Simon Kenton. They are still a few notches ahead of the other teams in the district.

  6. How the All Tournament team is going to be picked should be made at the draw meeting. Some have the coaches pick their players and some have a committee to do the picking. I feel the committee picking the team is the best way. I have never heard of a district not having an all tournament team.

  7. the weak schedule played against other small schools where most of the opponents young talent is playing varsity. Nothing against other schools, but with the talented younger players WV has right now I think Stevie Wonder could of had a winning record for the WV JV.
KyRebel--Apparently you don't understand the scheduling limitations that a NCKC participant faces--at least 16-18 games are tied up in conference and district oppontents which does not leave much freedom for scheduling.

  8. I will not argue that she is a loyal person. My grandmother is also a very loyal person, but in no way does that make her a great basketball coach. Not once in my post did I say that the JV coach was a bad person. All I'm saying is from what I've seen in the JV games is that her coaching abilities are very limited. As far as keeping to the varsity coaches game plan, I can see your point on that, since the varsity has been extremely successful this year.

Let's don't loose sight of the big picture. These young talented players will not do squat with out quality leadership at the JV and Varsity level.
Congrats to Coach Buerger and the JV squad for a 14-5 record--and by the way the team make up was 4 juniors, 1 sophomore and 2 freshmen--with 2-eighth graders and a 7th grader coming in mid-season.

  9. What's does parents sitting in different places in the gym have to do with this thread???

Parents have been sitting in various places in the gym for more than the last 3 to 4 years that I have noticed. I choose not to sit next to certain people at games because they yell at the refs or their kid and even the coaches during the whole game and it gets old. It would be one thing to hear fans cheering for the team but now days all I seem to hear is complaining from parents and some fans and I choose not to sit near them and many are very free flowing and loud with their mouth.:scared:

I agree with what you are saying. The Adults at games have loss sight of the big picture-- they should be the role models and teaching sportsmanship. Instead, the kids are hearing it and the coaches are having to put up with it. Why has it come to this?

  10. Jeanie I agree with your comment on the passing and having someone in the middle on the press break. The fill-in coach (JV) addressed that issue several times throughout the game but had to continually tell the players to do those things over and over. Doesn't the JV coach have a winning record this season? I was impressed with Walton's JV kids and their play against Ryle's JV kids.
