  1. The Newport Boys team somehow is doing it, why not the girls?

Again to any Bellevue/Dayton/Newport fans, are you willing to have a blind draw if and only if only one team gets to go to the Region?

IMO, yes. Simply because they will always be a 2,3, or 4 seed. With a blind draw, they could get to the finals and only have to make one upset to get the region. If they vote to see, they would need to upset two teams.

  2. Oh but they will put up that banner in the gym but it will never say "Because we got lucky in the draw"!

How can a player feel happy about getting to play in the Region, knowing full well that they only got in because they got lucky! Says a lot about the school, it's administration, players and fans to approve of this!

BTW I don't want to hear one peep out of the Bellevue/Newport fans coaches/players when they get hammered.

THEN THE STATE SHOULD CLASSIFY BASKETBALL! Why is that never brought up???????? Why would Dayton/Newport/Bellevue vote to seed? Makes no sense for them to. BTW, the bolded statement above is pretty classy. I know the Bellevue kids are happy to have a chance to play in the Region. They've played hard and improved a ton, so why should they feel ashamed. They've had a pretty good year for them. Why do they not deserve it? Just because they don't play the larger schools? Year in and year out, how is Bellevue/Dayton/Newport supposed to compete with Highlands and NewCath?

  3. I agree 100%.

See Bellevue two years ago. They got in the region tournament by luck of the draw only to be "rewarded" with a first round match up against Holmes. Holmes beats them 78-32 and the only team in the 9th to beat Holmes that year (Newcath) is left out.

I much rather see the 8 best teams in the region go at it than watch first round blow outs like that.

If you recall Holmes blew out Dixie in the next round 70 - 42 so it just wasn't Bellevue.

  4. I agree, I can see why a lot of smaller and mediocre schools would want to blind draw. But I agree, it would not be fair at all. You should reward the teams who have a good season. You should make it to the region tournament on merit not based on luck of the draw.

This would not be comparing apples to apples. A great season for Bellevue or Dayton, would not be the same as for NCC or Highlands. So if Bellevue has a great year, but that doesn't include beating Highlands, NCC, or Newport, how does that factor in?

  5. I do not believe the 36th district will ever seed. Until basketball is classified in the State, I think Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton will vote not to seed. Year in and year out, how is Bellevue, Dayton, and Newport supposed to compete with Highlands and NewCath? The bigger questions are, when will the classify basketball, or when will the All 'A' Classic be for class 'A' schools?

  6. Please explain to me how a team that has so much more talent is suppose to not win by a lopsided score? Do you want that team to stop pressing or playing their starters as soon as they are up 10 points? That is crazy if you say that. Even if a team is much more talented, anything can happen. However you will not find a case where they were still pressing late in games against those teams, or were still playing all their starters. In those games coach Stamm did what any coach would do in those situations. Was not pressing, just sitting back in a zone on defense. Would you have wanted him to tell his non starters if they got a steal, not to try to score? The name of the game is still basketball, its not fair even for your backups not to try to score. Lopsided scores are going to happen when one team is flat out better than the other, there is nothing else to say about that. As long as a team is not keeping their starters in all game, and not pressing and things like that, then there is nothing else they could do. So yes you saying these things definitely seems like you have an ax to grind. There is only so much you can do to prevent lopsided scores from happening when a team is so much better than the other. Just like this game I don't think Villa was trying to run up the score, they were just the better team. When a team commits something like 40 turnovers like Ludlow did, things like this happens.

I will have to disagree here. I was at a Bellevue game last year and Stamm was up by 34 points in the second half and still pressing!

  7. First off, this is not the forum for expressing your political views.

As far as Dilts' decision to continue to press during the game, Dayton dressed only 11 players that night and all of them received playing time with 9 of them seeing significant time (10+ minues). If you do the math, you have to keep one of your 1-7 guys in there just to field a 5 and they were all being rotated as they would get tired because the Greendevils played hard the whole game.

And IMO, if you are a pressing team, what is the reasoning in taking your press off when you put your reserves in the game. You want everyone on your team to play with the same intensity no matter who is in the game with them or against them. Those players have to get the experience they need doing those things in a game situation and they may rarely get an opportunity. It is a long season and you need everyone at their sharpest to compete at a high level.

You couldn't have asked for a better preformance from the Greendevils top to bottom, the intensity was there throughout the whole game and they played great as a team. There is no substitute for that in practice and these kinds of experiences are necessary for players to grow IMO, you either finish or get finished.

So it's okay for Dayton to run the score up, but its not okay for Buckler to run the ball in the second half???????? Hummmm. That make sense.

  8. Sounds like a great player and person.

According to the stats on Cincinnati.com, he had 2852 yards on 387 carries and 42 tds this year in 13 games. I believe they were saying that for his career he has a little over 5200 yards and over 500 career points. Crazy numbers when the games that I was at, everyone in the place knew he was getting the ball and still ended up putting up those kind of numbers.

  9. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/preps/2009/11/22/small-town-high-school-football-is-cool/

What a career he had and a great year for the Bellevue Tigers. I've spent a great deal of time with Ricky and he wanted nothing more than to play in the state game. Stats were the last thing on his mind and everytime he was interviewed he always praised everyone else rather than himself. What a great kid and his parents should be very proud of the young man's accomplishments and even more the person that they have raised. Great Job!

  10. Hey Papa, I don't recall several TD's being called back in the BB/Frankfort game. I recall both teams having several turnovers, so that can't be an excuse about the game being that close. How about thinking that BB isn't that bad and maybe they played a really good game against a good team.

According to some of the Frankfort fans I was talking to Friday night, they also said there were several tds called back in the BB game.

  11. Well here I go.....I've stayed silent for a while but....I've sat down and analyzed a lot about this game, I've heard the injuries, the set backs, the ejections, the ineligable players. I know the style of play of Bellevue and their Runningback's ability.

    But

    Then there was Special Teams.

    Frankfort 24

    Bellevue 21

Just not sure how you think Frankfort will score more against Bellevue than they did against Brossart. What is your reasoning there?

  12. I agree with some on the list but come on, compare the schedules and competition and the names will change except for Roller and Simpson. And this is not being disrespectful to the players mentioned. It's sad that a player gets injured and is no longer considered one of the best players at his position!!!

Here we go again with the whinning of, 'lets compare schedules and competition'. I'm sure you are referring to someone who plays for a small school. For some reason he never gets respect! Just watch him play! Everyone knows he's getting the ball and he still gets his yards!

  13. What were the numbers for these two records? Congrats!

364 yards and 4 tds on 49 carries. Set the school record for career points and most yards in a game at Bellevue. I believe he's about 290 yards away from the career rushing record. Saw him take quit a few shots tonights. What a tough kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. :thumb: Nice post. Beechwood does have some exceptional athletes and year in year out. Bellevue seems to have waves of these types of athletes and they struggle to have it consistently on a yearly basis.

Well that's because Bellevue doesn't have any tuition students that play sports. I would love to know how many tuition students Beechwood has on a yearly basis that play sports. Does anyone have any figures? :idunno:

  15. Let me try to clear this all up. I don't know how people can take this as a shot at Buckler when I say he is one of the best backs in the state in 1A. So that shows that I would definitely take him on my team. I just don't think he really gets more consideration for Mr. Football in the state. There are A LOT of players better than him in the state. There are players at his position in the region that are better than him, that is why I wouldn't really consider him for Mr. Football. Just off the top of my head three players in the region that I definitely take over him is Simpson, Bradley from Cooper, and Collingsworth. I really don't think I am so wrong for thinking those three are better. Buckler is a great back though and I am not taking that away from him. :thumb:

I will ask this to the Bellevue faithful, who do you think was better him or Lincoln Adams? Buckler is going to finish with better numbers, but I would take Adams.

Lincoln Adams and Buckler are two totally different players. Buckler is a true football player and Adams was a track star that played football. There are several reasons I would take Buckler. First his 'all out' demeanor to the game. I've never seen a kid play with so much heart. Adams only played running back and Buckler plays running back, safety, punt returner, kickoff retuner, and kicks off. Btw, I can't remember if Adams returned kicks or not but I know he didn't play defense. I know Adams was good and really fast, but he didn't have the moves that Buckler has and couldn't make the cuts that Buckler does. Adams was more of get an opening and out run everybody. So I would take Buckler any day of the week because I think he is more of a complete all-around player. Also I would like to add that I believe Adams had at least another back with him that gained over 600 or 700 yards. Buckler is doing what he is doing when everyone in the stadium knows who is getting the ball and he still puts up numbers. Also, Adams was a great player but I just think we are not comparing apples to apples. Any other comments from the Bellevue Faithful.

  16. Um, how were you at two games at once? You posted on Saturday I believe that you were in attendance at the Dayton/Taylor game and they wouldn't win a game all year without Lewis and #70. Now you say you were in attendance here and Jones didn't break those runs?:idunno:Both games were played on Friday night so one of two things are going on here:

    A) Dogging youngster just to dog them while pretending to be places you weren't or

    B) You left one game and went to the other and therefore didn't see the whole game and have no right making comments about any plays you don't think happened.
