  1. The two Soph's have played varsity since 8th grade (Cooper's first year) and the Frosh was JV last year and will be Varsity this year. Cooper actually won some games last year. I believe they were around a .500 team. The schedule is tougher this year which is good. The talent is improving each year and over 70 kids were at tryouts for the 3 teams.

What are their names? Low 80's is pretty impressive for a Sophomore. I would like to get those guys on my summer team.

  3. If his average has been consistently going down, can you really blame the coach?

I could buy this argument if that seemed to be true. Looking at UK's stats the player that has been playing over Farris since his playing time dropped is Neiko Johnson. Johnson's avg has not been over .200 since early Mar. Make your own conclusions from the stats. There is stuff going on other than performance Check out the link from Rivals.com: http://collegebaseball.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=2308&tid=133893092&mid=133893092&sid=1169&style=2

Its a sad day in the life of a UK baseball fan. As I type this, we're down 16-0 to the worst team in the SEC. Now we're on the outside looking in. Ive been waiting to do this simply because UK has played good as of late. Also, I write this because Kendall said to give Henderson a mulligan (he probably doesnt know the whole situation). Also to note, I have been to a ton of UK baseball games and have been an avid follower since the 2006 season. However, I have had enough of Henderson.

As I talked with some baseball parents last weekend, many were Word Filter ViolationWord Filter ViolationWord Filter ViolationWord Filter Violation off. Henderson refuses to play Cory Farris, a very talented outfielder, for no reason. The result is a transfer to Cincinatti (you'll hear this officially later on).

Logan Darnell, where did the guy go? What used to be our weekend starter disappeared after the Tennessee series. Henderson claimed he was hurt, but was he? No. The truth is that the two had a conversation in which Darnell said if he was drafter he would go pro. In spite, Henderson sits the kid for two weeks. After speaking with Logan and some parents, all said that he wasnt actually injured.

Zach Cox, the stud hitter who plays for Arkansas, was going to attend UK. However, "something" happened on his recruiting visit to deter him from playing baseball. I wonder what happened there?

One last thing. Many parents I talk to (that are parents of pitchers) are worried about their kids arm being ruined. If you look at the past roster, EVERY ace has been injured under Cohen and never really recovered. (Scott Green, Greg Dombrowski, Chris Rusin, James Paxton, Nick Kennedy, and now Alex Meyer)

Its time for a change in Lexington. This coaching staff can recruit, but they sure do Word Filter ViolationWord Filter ViolationWord Filter ViolationWord Filter Violation players off (and subsequently run kids off), and they cant coach anything out of a wet paper bag. Whats happening is a never ending cycle: recruit great kids, then sitting on their hands and not coaching them.

A parent told me we weould see a "meltdown of epic proportions" if we werent in the sec tournament race. well, we arent in the sec tournament race, and we are witnessing a meltdown of epic proportions.

And Kendall, if you are reading this, i want to hear your response on how our team will be any better next season. We will lose ray, bisson, black, nidiffer, glad, farris, wiley, and darnell. not a whole lot returning, not a whole lot coming in.

  7. Having a different opinion still doesn't make it right NCC is not that much bigger than dayton or bellevue. And newport is probably bigger. The All A is for the smaller schools. NCC has to play Ryle tonite and they are 4-5x the size of NCC. The tournament is not so everybody should get to play but to determine a champion. If you are in the tournament you should at least feel like if things workout right and we play our game we have a chance. Did the girls of Bellevue and the parents feel that way last night or were they there thinking well at least we got to play at BOK. My nephews played football at Bellevue and I have firsthand knowlege of th problems that come with supporting a child in those programs. but we do our best and hope they have a few bright moments in their athletic careers. That is all any of us are trying to do and Bellevue qualified under the current system but if the rest of the state works under a different system it doesn't make it fair to the other teams inour district that have a chance.

All I'm asking is do you think you would still feel this way if your child went to Bellevue instead of NCC? Also, not sure why more Bellevue fans didn't come out to support. It was pretty lonely in the stands. I was talking with a few parents during halftime and they were saying that they heard only 40 presale tickets sold that day. Also, I thought someone mentioned earlier about there being 3 other districts who blind draw. Are they taking abuse too? And last, why doesn't the state classify basketball? There are only 2 states left.

  8. The girls don't have a vote and I am sure they played their best. However the system needs to be fixed. 42 pt blowouts are not what should be happening at this stage of the game if possible. The girls from BHS will certainly remember playing at BOK the rest of their lives. That doesn't make this right though. The best teams in the district should advance. So in the end the best team moves on to Diddle. Teams getting free passes early in the tournament will help them keep their legs late in the tournament. That shouldn't happen. I'm sure that if the people of Bellevue thought their team had even a snowballs chance they would have turned out in droves, but the out come was predetermined. The people that make these decisions need to look at this and make it right for future athletes. I looked at other scores from around the area 8th, 10th and & 7th regions and couldn't find another score like this. Not that they were all nail biters but at least somewhat competitve. Good luck to Bellevue in the future and I hope soon they will get into the tounament and reall make some noise.

I believe you would have a different opinion if your son/daughter went to Bellevue/Dayton/Newport.

  9. Boone I believe didn't make (I don't have the stats) a single trey in the first half and they had to attempt at least 10/15. If they had made just some of those treys that would have made the score even worse, that was what I was meaning. Boone just couldn't buy a shot from outside the arch!

On the other hand, if Bellevue makes their layups, its a ball game in the first half. They had plenty of chances to score and didn't convert on the opportunities. They needed to score while Boone was not hitting and that didn't happen. The second half, it was a different Boone team.

  10. [/b]

And I get so sick and tired of the ALL A. I ask Why? Everyone gets a trophy. Thats Why. Because it just wouldnt be politically correct if the small schools had to face a bigger and better school to win a tourney and get a trophy. You are missing my point. Dayton, Bel, NCC and Npt have the ALL A. Its real simple. By the 36 Dist doing what they do, they are almost securing a Boone or Kenton Cty team to win the Region every yr simply because the system is eliminating one of the best teams yr in and yr out of the tourney and that so happens to be a 36 Dist team. I must say the BC and KC teams have to be laughing it up thinking how ridiculous to blind draw. :thumb: Either get rid of the ALL A or go to a seeding system. Sorry, but I disagree that the small schools should have their cake and eat it too just because they can based on a majority vote. I couldnt resist. Also, dont kid yourself if you think that the chance of upsets every 3 to 5 yrs between these 36th small schools exist in the Girls tourney. It just doesnt happen. Boys maybe, but not Girls. I respect your opinion but you are way off on this one. Go Birds. 20n10

I'm guessing you haven't been associated with a small public school before, because if you had, you would have a totally different opinion. Why is any sport classed then? So you are saying Bellevue/Dayton can compete with Highlands every year. If so, you have NO clue!

  11. They are still one of the smallest schools in ky (125 smallest). where the kids come from shouldN't matter. It

Tony Sanfoss had insight to this years ago, when he started an AAU team and knew he wanted to develope players that would later play with his daughter at NCC.My daughter benefitted from that very much. A few of the girls ended up going to other schools but that happens. It still starts at th grade school level and all these kid went to catholic grade schools.

Gary theim did the same thing with the jr.s[/quote

Okay, so you are saying getting kids from 3 or 4 different cities is the same amount of kids as what Bellevue has. Not sure the numbers, so hopefully someone from Bellevue can help me, but the last I heard was 250 kids 9 - 12. I never once said they were hand picking kids from other cities. I was just saying from what I was being told, there are kids from other cities going to NCC who are great players and that is why they can compete at the level that they do. And I totally agree with u, with a parent getting an AAU team together. I've said that numerous times to my buddies at Bellevue but you have to have someone willing to take that on such as a parent. I've heard at some schools it's the grade school parents who have a club which gets the kids involved in AAU. And I'm sure the girl who lives in Bellevue who goes to NCC could help Bellevue compete at a higher level. Anyway, like I said, I have no dog in the fight so I'm out. Just giving my opinion from the outside looking in.

  12. You weren' t debating geographics we were talking sizeof the schools. Geography would change the landscpe of every shool across the state because all the kids would be at different schools. My daughter would be at HHS. Sandfoss would be at CCHS as would several other girls. The only player I know for sure would be at Bellevue is Paige piccolo. So the result would be that some other schools in your district would be even stronger.

I was answering your question as to why NCC is a small school but can compete with the larger schools.

  13. Well the fact of the matter is that is not what happens, but anyways this is getting to a Public/Private debate and not the topic.

Agree. And I didn't want it to get to that. I was just stating a fact of why NCC is usually better year in and year out along with being a Class A/AA school. Good Luck to all in the District Tournament. :dancingpa

  14. NCC is a 1 a school they compete with the larger schools.

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong. From what I've been told, there are kids who live in Bellevue, Dayton, Newport, Ft. Thomas, and Alexandria who attend NCC. So kids from Bellevue/Dayton are competing against a school with kids from different cities? Take the private/public school part out of it. That's a different issue. How good would NCC be if there would only be kids from Newport who went there? I'm talking year in and year out?

  15. So always was not the right word to use. I think there is no reason why Bellevue, Dayton, or Newport can not be a 1 or 2 seed.

In sports like football enrollment size can make a difference. In basketball I think enrollment size has not near the impact as there are 5 players on the floor at a time.

Agree, ALWAYS was not the right word to use. I was just speaking from the time I started following Bellevue.

Although, if you have 15 really good kids trying out, and then you have only 5 really good kids trying out for a smaller school, I would think larger school is at an advantage. Just my take.

  16. With that type of mentality, I guess you never will be more than that.

What is stopping you from being a 1 or 2 seed?

I don't have any dogs in the fight. I am good friends with some people from Bellevue so I know what pretty much goes on with sports at Bellevue. I was just giving my opinion.

  17. Oh but they will put up that banner in the gym but it will never say "Because we got lucky in the draw"!

How can a player feel happy about getting to play in the Region, knowing full well that they only got in because they got lucky! Says a lot about the school, it's administration, players and fans to approve of this!

BTW I don't want to hear one peep out of the Bellevue/Newport fans coaches/players when they get hammered.

Do the banners at NCC or Highlands say, 'Because we played a small classs 'A' school to make the region'? I didn't think so!
