  1. I've personally seen them overlook a team going into the postseason. I'm not saying Miller will take a night off, but the extremely mental game will be a defining factor. The fact that Mason SHOULD destroy a team may be enough for them to leave the door open for an opponent. In '06, they were in trouble with Augusta at half-time, at which point they realized what was happening and showed the team they truly were. The mentality of Mason's squad will play a huge part in how the game works out.

Here we go with the "down by two at halftime" Augusta claim to fame. atownjoe, I believe this game is the reason that they wont overlook this team.

  2. Mason County will not be able to take this one for "as many as they want." This will likely be a no contest victory to Mason County, but the Saint Patrick teams is not just a bunch of scrubs, and if Mason comes out thinking this game isn't a roadblock in their route to the state tournament, you may very well see a team struggle against an underdog on this night.

Darius Miller wont take a night off in the postseason. This team is on a mission. They won't overlook St. Pat either.

  3. So his man wont guard him? Please...

I never said that. You just don't know what your talking about. It took a total team effort to shut him down tonight. There is not one player that can shut Chris down one on one for a whole game. He was shut down. It was one game. He will bounce back and have a big week this week playing Vandy and UK.

  4. Lofton did score 35 points against Texas last season. However, he was 8-24 from the field so he didn't exactly light it up and Durant is a great player but not nearly as quick as Lofton.

He managed to hit key shots in the end of each of both these games to get the win. Thats all that matters in the end.

  5. Lofton hit some huge shots over Durant last year against Texas, and led them to a win....and he's not exactly small, and definitely what you call a great athlete.

They shut him down with good defense, which helped open things up for other players. Tennessee, though, needs to work on getting him the ball in transition and setting better screens, that would help against a better defensive team. Regardless, they won virtually without him, and that makes it even more impressive.

I agree completely. They played great defense of him all night. This also took the pressure off the other players too.

  6. I have to wonder if a guy like Derrick Rose, about the same height, would disappear with CDR on him. I'm going to say probably not.

Rose and Lofton have completly opposite games. Rose is a driver and Lofton a shooter. Evidently Lofton played a big enough part for his team to get the W.

  7. Why does Lofton always disappear against teams with great athletes?

He did have 34 points last year against the same team. Only differences are Rose, (who didnt guard him), Tyler Smith and JP Prince, (who should open more shots for him).

He was shut down all night. He continued to play though he wasnt shooting well. Around the 10 minute mark, when Prince went off for a couple minutes, his last dunk was a result of a hustle play by Lofton.

Another game I remember is his freshman year in the Maui Invitational. He scored 23ish points against North Carolina and thier championship team. They didn't have any athletes did they?

  8. Miller's team won by 29 points, that's domination. It is a team sport still. If a kid scores 15 points and leads his team to a win over a top 10 team is that not better than getting 27 points in a 29 point loss?

I would let a player have 40 points every game if my team wins by 30 points. Curious question, would the outcome be different if the other Elliott County players would have been more involved?

No, Mason County dominated this game. Darius Miller dominated the game with the help of his teammates. Hopefully they will see them again to beat the again.

  9. I don't think this is actually accurate. I watched to see when the MC starters would be taken out because of all the talk about this situation concerning EC. Mason had at least 4 starters if not all 5 on the floor in the 4th when the subs were sent to the scorers table at 2:34! Due to play not stopping it was about 1:26 or so when they left the floor!

The game wasnt even close when he had 8 points in the last 2:30. Go back and look at the update thread. He was dominated by Darius all night.
