  1. I have to agree with SSF. I feel bad for this team. Their success at this level will be sadly limited due to the fact that they do not have a strong leader.

I saw some of these girls play at the middle school level, and they had tremendous success. A few even contributed at the high school, under coach Ross, and were great benefits to the team. Its a shame that they're surrounded by such disfunction, now.

Its to bad they didn't keep Eddie Bartley, I'm sure he had what they needed to turn things around for this team. Just look at the past history for the jv team compared to last year, when he coached them. I feel he could've made a hugh difference if he had the head coaching position.

    What a shame

  2. On Morrows elgibility, see my above post. Hearing at KHAAA this week. Any news on who is playing for McCreary this year? Vanover is a nice player not to play. Heard that she may be moving also.

If her mom does work at the Mcreary board of edu., there would have to be tension over this situation. Wonder why they "had" to move.

  3. I heard Eddie Bartley (who was the boys asst. for years and then girls jv/asst.) is very upset because he had been pushed out, of the girls program. From my understanding he was never given a reason and was contacted via e-mail. In my opinion he was the only coach they had, and a great one at that. He made a tremendous change in the jv team. It was rumored last year that some of the sophomore varsity players were begging to play jv, due to his coaching style. I saw him coach the boys a few years ago and I watched him a couple of times last season with the girls. He seemed to have all the qualities you would want for a coach discipline, respect, and knowledge of the game. Seems like a shame to get rid of him. Must be a lot of jealousy on the coaching staff or typical politcs, or maybe both. It would be a shame if Vanover didn't play or transferred. Shes a hard worker and a good ball player.

  4. Thanks for the correction Jesse James. I do like to watch some of the MCHS players. I also like Wayne, Whitley Co., South Laurel, and many others. From my observation of last season, the new head coach had a lot of trouble uniting the team and making quick decisions according to what was happening on the floor. I know several players were injured during the season. Morgan had a severe elbow injury, Chelsea Smith had problems with rotater cup and shoulder, I think the Vanover girl had some sort of medical problems, but I'm not sure, and Morrows ACL tear. Rumors about who is playing. I've heard Tanisha Vanover, who was there leading scorer,( I think), was undecided. Adkins who has very bad ankels is not playing. Kayla Morgan, who is playing volleyball right now, is also undecided. As for the others I don't know.

  5. I have heard from very reliable sources that Brittany Morrow has been ruled ineligible to play at Wayne County, twice by the KHSAA, and it is being appealed a third time. Morrow has had some tough seasons due to injuries, severe shin-splints as a freshman and the ACL tear her sophomore season. Shes 6' 2'' and has a great shot, inside and outside the arc. She does lack maturity, tho. If an opponent plays strong defense against her she is very easy to intimidate, especially, when it comes to a turn around shot under the goal.

  6. Couldn't attend the game tonite, but heard that Watts had a poor game. I also heard that Swiger, Phillips, and Wright are sick. Is this true? Did they play?

I wasn't able to attend the game either but I had heard Watts may have the flu. I don't think Phillips was a 100% from an illness early last week, not to mention the hard fall he took during the LC game. I hadn't heard anything about Swiger or Wright but there seems to be a lot of absences in the schools due to illness. The word from most people that did attend the game was, Rob Jones didn't do a lot of coaching, he sat on the bench most of the time. They felt like the team didn't have a leader. I wasn't there so this is not my opinion, its just a few things I heard.

  7. Aaron Watts is a great player and he's also a great kid. Through out this season he's been exciting to watch but the heart and soul of this team is Josh Phillips. He goes to work every game on both ends of the floor. He may have been slightly less productive in scoring against Lincoln but without him on the floor the Raiders are a different team. He is a hard worker and a great kid. I have heard his doing ok and will play against Monticello.
