  1. Pitching is the key to winning along with great defensive play. Pitching is also something Cov Cath has more than other 9th Region competitors. NCC, Holy Cross, Beechwood, and Ryle will have a solid 1 and 2, but that just wont cut it come tourny time.

it worked well for NCC this year? Beechwood has nice pitchers but they forget to use them in big games? CovCath while very good I don't think will cut again. Ryle will be tough but I agree they lack pitching.

  2. Scoring on the post is a concern I'm sure for Brannen. Guards will be very good in Pangallo, Conner and Meyer. Conner and Meyer can stroke it and Pangallo if he can get his assist to turnover ratio where it needs to be will be hard to stop. Im hearing a lot abot the Geisler boys. Stepping in as a Soph and contributing will not be as easy as some think especially with the schedule NCC plays but I would think Jake G will be there by the end of the year.

I couldn't agree more! I do think Oleberding will the "X factor" if you will being the most physical/toughest inside player they have at this point. NCC will have to run to compete which will certainly be an issue for the Giesler boys but fun for Pangallo/Connor/Meyer!!!!!

  3. The only local player from NKY is Hunter Jones. The rest are from the Cincy area. The pitcher that three-hit the Colonels tonight goes to Princeton H.S. and indeed just completed his sophomore year. And, yes, I promise you they are a legit 16U team, though I am certain that some of the boys have since turned 17 after the legal age cutoff date of April 1, just like all 16U teams.

The Ky Kings beat that team 5-0 last week and yes they are a 16U team. Hunter Jones was playing 3rd for the Redskins which has 12 draft picks on the roster. The Ky Kings lost to the Redskins 7-2 in the semi's of the OVC. The Indians are 90% local with only 4 out of town players.

  4. The below information is from the sign in sheet at the front gate, besides the ones that I have already posted, the following were also in attendance:

    New York Yankees MLB

    Cincinnati Reds MLB

    Brescia University

    Michigan State

    Austin Peay of the OVC

University of Kentucky from the SEC

    Kent State of the MAC

Morehead State University of the OVC

saw the same group at the Ohio Valley Classic at Thomas More watching the Ky Kings and beat Midland Braves I believe the Seattle scout was behind the plate!!! What a view for a scout. Sounds like a great weekend of baseball for the Nky boys of summer!!!!!
