  1. Being as close to the program as I am it just gets old hearing the same stuff just a different day...and the jabs after jabs after jabs...good golly!

I actually had a person tell me on Sunday "I've watched Nell for years and I cannot believe she stooped so low and let Moss on her team'...I couldn't even dignify that comment with a response.

Oh well, I guess after all these years old Nell has softened up a bit...nothing wrong with that...the kids are still responding.

Watching Boone Co. basketball through the years, i agree that Nell has softened up, but only a little. She has a very good way of making her players work hard all the time, and if they aren't, she will take them out and let them know it. Moss was not working hard, so she got taken out. These girls put in a lot of time and effort. Pretty sure Boone has practices for 2 hours and 30 minutes pretty much everyday. The intensity that Nell brings to the court rubs off on their players, no doubt about that. As long she is getting the girls to work hard and performe to their abilities, she is doing a great job. And she is obviously putting up great coaching numbers like always.

  2. Boone County 57 St Henry 41

Interesting match-up last night with Boone County playing St Henry at Boone. The game featured 2 of the best post players in the 9th region with Moss (Boone/Soph.) and Janszen (St. Henry/Junior). It looked to me as though Moss was flustered on both ends of the floor, not used to seeing someone with the size, quickness, and athleticism of Janszen. St. Henry gave Boone all they could handle for 3 and 1/2 quarters, St Henry trailing by 6 points with less than 3 minutes in the game. Final score did not indicate the competitiveness of the game, thanks in big part to Janszen holding Moss to 10 points & 7 rebounds. Janszen finished with 12 points & 7 rebounds. If St Henry plays to their potential, they could surprise someone come tournament time.

Not taking anything away from Janszen at all, I don't think that she had a lot to do with Moss only scoring 10 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. IMO Janszen is an amazing athlete and I don't want this to be taken the wrong way. Moss had many chances to score, just couldn't find the net. There was one possession when she had atleast 4 rebounds right under the basket but still couldn't manage to score. Just a bad game, thats all. Every player has more then one. Moss has had double doubles for more then half the games, truth is that if these were numbers for an average player, it would be a solid game for them. If you read the article in the enquire, Fookes made it clear that Moss is only human and cannot score 30 points every game with 4 or 5 people hanging on her. I agree, and I applaud Coach Fookes on saying that.

As to the game, it was a very close one and St. Henry worked very hard to stay with the Rebels most of the way, great job and effort by every one of them. It was a great game and the Rebels pulled out another victory.

  3. The list is pretty long at this point. Conferences include Big East, SEC, MAC, Sun Belt, Big 10. She has about 10+ firm offers of full scholarships and is trying to narrow things down a bit. There are still a number of schools still evaluating her. Notre Dame's head coach was at the game last night. They are in town to play UC on Tuesday.

wow! That is impressive. Those are some big ball clubs. I can't wait to watch her on ESPN some day. It'll be interesting to see how well she will do in a division 1 atmosphere.

  4. People overlook Reinhart's injury, it was devastating. I thought Sanker hit her head against St. Pat's and got a concussion?

I think that a lot of people over look injuries becuase they are just so common now a days, which is sad. Any ACL injury is devastating, and so many great athletes are experiencing them more and more.

  5. Abby Janszen - St. Henry

**Severall double / doubles this season and I believe she also had one triple / double this year. I think she will most likely get college offers for both Basketball and Soccer.

Abby Janszen is by far one of the greatest athletes in the state of Kentucky. She has great basketball numbers, but her soccer game is 10x better. She'll get offers for both, but will probably stick with soccer. She is a great all around player. I'm pretty sure she got offensive player of the year in Northern Kentucky for soccer.

  6. Marschall is still trying to come back from that serious knee injury and that takes time. She is getting playing time with the JV to try to help that process. She plays for short periods and then comes out. I think that is by design and is done to not go too fast with her recovery. If she can get back fully that will make Boone even stronger.

Yeah your right. She was a big help last year and it was unfortunate to see her down this year. I'm sure the recovery is harder then it looks. That's very good that she is starting in JV games to get her back slowly, we don't want to see anything happen again!!

  7. I agree with earlier posts, about the girls who work hard and then don't get anything out of it. I've seen Boone play in a couple of matches, this year and last. Last year I saw forward Jackie Marshall really come alive on the court and this year she sits at the end of the bench, along with a lot of other boone players. Although she suffered a serious knee injury, it would have been nice to see her out on the court a little bit. Fact of the matter is, it makes the level of competition much greater in a practice setting. Girls have to earn their spot, and the player who works the hardest and does their job will play. Its unfortunate sometimes that high schools get those transfers, but its something that happens and it makes great teams better. I'm sure Nell demands more out of her starting five then she does her j.v. players, but I seriously doubt that she expects anything less then their ability. She makes every player work as hard as they can work, and thats why her team performs to the level they do.

  8. Hmm... Seems like a despute between everyone against ryle. In a district game like this, you don't want to keep the score close at all, but in a 40+ game, it would be nice to see some new names in the box score. These girls don't want to sit around when they could be getting new experience, plus, you risk injury of your top 7 by leaving them in simply to run the score up. Agreed, not very classy.

  9. I got to see this game, wow is all I have to say. The Lady Rebels came out strong and never let up. They really forced the ball down their throats and ran a very good offense. PM gave up on defense and it just seemed like Boone did whatever they could to get 100 points, very exciting. Moss wasn't the only one who scored high. Shrout had 19, she was hot from the 3 point. Davis was also in double digits. Pretty sure Sandlin was too. I think everyone scored except for Dickerson and Marschall who both could not play due to injury.

  10. Ryle has been the talk of a lot of these threads. I'd like to see them play someone first. The Marian game will be interesting. If Ryle can beat them, then you should be complaing about not being on the state rankings. As far Word Filter ViolationWord Filter ViolationWord Filter Violation Boone goes, I can see why they have dropped. They lost to CAL (#2) by 20+ points. IMO Highlands should be in there before SK any day. Yes, SK has made plenty of good runs in the past, but it's this year, and things aren't looking as good as they were in the past. Iroquois won the state last year, they aren't ranked. Also, it doesn't matter whether the team is more talented or "better" then their oponent, it's who plays the best defense, the hardest, and with the best team chemistry at the right times and throughout the game. But, who cares about the rankings now, like GFYBS said, the season starts in February.

  11. Lot of errors by Lee Co., Mmont. Co. with only 1........Montgomery jumped out early scoring 2 runs in the first inning and never looked back......first 5 batters all had 1 or 2 rbi's with them all putting the ball in play nicely to score runs when they needed to........Eversole 2 rbi's-2runs, Ppotter 1rbi 2runs....Ccurtis 2singles-3runs-1rbi.....
