Yes Besecker was the previous coach, and I totally agree Florimonte would be a GREAT coach. I believe that him or Schwitzier would help develope players and maybe even get them to further their career in college which the current coach fails to do.
-
If those things are true then you certainly would change my opinion of him. Mustang refers to him as a class act so I will wait for more info from others. Those things you stated would certainly qualify as not running a program correctly.
I kid you not, these things are all true! Ask any of his former players, fans, parents or anyone who has followed the baseball team. The majority of them will back this all up.
-
I do not think the name calling is necessary. You can get your point across that you do not like him as a human being and coach without that. Honestly if you are going to say he is a horrible human being at least be willing to back it up with specifics.......
If you want specifics, well alright I will give you some. First a coach who takes time off to go play golf instead of having practice is just wrong. Second when practices were very rarley held, the only thing the team did was take batting practice and maybe a little infield if that. He let players sit in the outfield and talk and lay down in the grass without even yelling at them one bit or getting on them. When it comes to the games, his coaching decisions are ones that will make you wonder what in the world is the man thinking. Not only that, but I would be totally shocked if not every team they have played knows the Camels signs. Not only does he make them so obvious, but he only gives them when he wants a player to steal a base or bunt. Other than that he will clap his hand and that is it. Too, Herringer waited until 2 weeks before the season started this year in trying to recieve the baseball pants from the seniors a year ago. There is something wrong with waiting that long. But, The biggest slap in the face though from the coach is last year when he did not have a banquet for the baseball team and showed up at the front door steps to hand the players there stuff and just left. That to me is the biggest slap in the face especially to the seniors who gave him four years of devotion to the Camel Baseball team and help him win another district title. There is your specifics
-
I've also heard Herringer is retiring from coaching baseball, by his own choice, no forcing here. I would say Flo is the main candidate for the head spot. He's got a very dominating presence and the players love him. Wainscott would also be a solid option.

Bobby Estes will likely put his name in for the job:ylsuper:
I have heard this rumor too :deadhorse::notworthy:

I am sure some would like to see us moved...
I sure wouldn't mind:rolleyes: but of course that's only because I'm partial to winning

Took a look at the bracket and I noticed that Elliot, Shelby Valley, Holmes and LexCath are all on the same side of the bracket? I don't know much about teams around the state but from some of the things said on BGP it seems like these are a few favorites? Would anyone venture to say whoever makes it out of that side should become the eventual winner? Also all but one team in that bracket is ranked in the state, and as for the other bracket there are 5 un-ranked teams. I know its tourney time and the rankings can pretty much be thrown out the window but it seems to me like one side is loaded.
Any opinions?
-
Holmes because of their defense.
They're offense ain't half bad either. They can play with the best of em on the offensive end. I definitely think that they are a complete team that will bring NKY that long awaited second State Title!!
-
What was the attendance like? I heard the 9th region had a lot of empty seats a BOK.
-
Do you think his frequent injuries could hurt him post high school? As in college commitments?
-
All of the 37th district games had at least a decent crowd of students attend.
-
For what it is worth, I also agree that Jordan Smith isn't very good at all. I saw him hit several shots in the game against Bishop Brossart, but he is a very weak ball handler, average shooter (must be wide open), is small, but not scrappy. Now, I have been to almost 14 Campbell games this year, and never once did I say, "That's a player."
Also, I am not a Brossart fan, nor do I ever plan on being one, but Jordan Armstrong is way better than Jordan Smith. Armstrong can flat play defense and it a better ball handler. Jordan Smith is not that good of a defender, and isn't a very good ball handler. He would be a better two guard.
Finally, I don't get the Scott Code bashing. I think it is ridiculous that people compare him to a janitor at a horrible resturant. If you don't like the way he coaches, then go somewhere else, or don't try out. CCH Camels 1, you talk of kids that won't come back next year, if I were Scott Code I would rejoice. Play the younger guys and build.
Rejoice that your losing talent and the only players that would return experience? Cody Neises is a great shooter and one of the fastest kids you'll ever lay eyes on but no one will ever know that because CC is the black hole, where talent falls in and is never seen again.
-
Depends on the school I'd say. Some schools could not have the team to go deep in the region so in that case the District championship would be very important to them. But for a team like Holmes, Elliot etc. I don't think it means as much.
-
Completely agree, I just strongly disagree with your sentiments toward Scott Code... And when was the last time Campbell didn't complain about a coach????
If we got the other Code we wouldn't be complaining! I do believe you played under Scott and Mike but you didn't play under Scott when he was running the whole show. So some of the things your basing your opinions on have probably changed.
-
Also its good to get the kids out of class and have fun a little. It can't be ALL business and for heavens sake we are talking about kids here. The kids deserve to have a little fun now and then and so why not get together for a school event like a pep rally to support some of their own teams!
Completely agree.
-
If you have to play to give an opinion on this site I think half the threads would be empty. So i really don't think that matters.
-
Scott Code's a great coach, unfortunately, for someone who never played basketball for either (or at all for that matter), you are sorely mistaken in the assumption he's not a good coach. Scott Code knows the game of basketball as good as ANYONE I know.
If fans at CCHS runs off Scott Code, it will be the biggest mistake in the program's history...
And I quite often give other team's credit, just not too often do I give CCHS credit, because they usually don't deserve it. That is, until Scott Code became coach there. If you read all the posts you'd see that I commented on Nerl and Albrecht... I said Brossart has had a more successful season, which is asinine to even argue over... You can compare schedules, compare wins, and I believe even take a shot at their religious upbringing on that prayer comment, but at the end of the day, who beat who win it mattered???
Must not be too great when parents, teachers, students and even the entire team complain about him and his style. I didn't mean anything by the prayer comment other than it took more than coaching and players to win that one. Religion is something that should have no pull in this thread at all I'm sorry if you or anyone else took it the wrong way.

Campbell has about 2 pep rallies a year which is sad. Although student attendance was up this year.
-
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dancingpa
Hope CCHS enjoyed their one year reign, very upset I couldn't be there... So proud of you guys... Anyone got details?
And Coach Mike Code...:notworthy:
THE reason they won. Here is a comparison for you. If coaching was like making fried chicken Mike Code would be colonel Sanders and Scott Code would be the guy cleaning the bathroom of the KFC. If I had to take any coach for a school opening tomorrow it would be Mike Code. (hey striker, thats how you give credit to another team )

McGovney will only be a freshman, he might play JV, but i doubt he will be a big contributor for varsity his freshman year. He will be a stud when he does start playing varsity.
Campbell will have more seniors next year: Jolly, Smith, Geiman, Neises, and Wolf. They have some very talented underclassmen as well. Jolly and Smith will lead the way and IMO those two are top in the district. I wouldn't exactly put Brossart ahead of Campbell next year.
I'm willing to put my right leg that says none of those 3 will be in uniform next year. Smith, Jolly, Griffin and Mcgovney will be the only bright points. They will have 0 size which will hurt them immensely. Smith and Jolly could turn out to be one of the best duos in the region next season talent wise but I'm not sure if that will equate to wins. They have a few soon to be juniors that have some promise but under the helm of Code who knows. Those being Cox and Losey.
-
He won't be the second best either...
Let me guess.... Armstrong will best the best PG in the district right? That's a tough one to call. Nothing annoys me more than a bias fan that cant admit that anyone is better than his team. Jordan Smith has more talent in his big toe than Armstrong has in his body.
-
First of all, only this year is relevant. And I'd say Brossart is definitely once again back on top of CCHS once again...I'd say Brossart has now had a more successful season this year. Would you disagree?
One win in the last 4 meetings puts them on top? with Campbell winning 2 of those by 18 and 21? With such a strong schedule how couldn't they be successful? With losses coming from the hoops powerhouses of Augusta and Deming that really shows how fantastic BB is.
They played 5 good teams all season,
Campbell beat them 2 of 3,
Scott played D- ball that night and still pulled it out,
And Highlands which I couldn't explain (they must have prayed twice before that game)
Mason beat them,
NewCath also beat them
The Power houses they played are highlighted.

Quite a strong Schedule? Almost as pathetic as their football schedules have been.

I wish I could bring some posts back from some CCHS faithful who said two years ago when 07 graduated that CCHS would be on top for quite some time, and Brossart would be down for quite some time... I wish I could remember who. Looks like they weren't exactly right
So happy for these guys...
I hardly think that one win out of the last 4 meetings would indicate that Brossart is on top of Campbell especially due to the fact that Campbell completely pounded Brossart in 2 of those games. Very tough to beat the same team 3 times in one season especially when that team has a Coach like Mike Code leading them and when your team is led by a much less impressive leader.
Anyone who thought Campbell was going to be on top for quite some time was fooling themselves. Next year will be a down year due to the loss of the the Big 3 of Campbell and the rumors of the more talented juniors and sophomores not returning next year.
Rumor - Campbell Co.

A little bit of critisim never hurts anyone. Schwitzier yells at his players to get the best out of him. He wants to see them excel in baseball just like any coach should (cough, cough)!! But, I do agree with you on coach Flo. He has always found away to get his J.V. team to play. He would be a great Hire to be the Camels Varsity coach!
