  1. If they can't find a way to equal out the facilities such as field houses, turf, equipment and such the disparities in talent will just increase in my opinion. Young families with sport interests will start migrating to those newer and better equipped schools and leave the others in a lurch. Boone at least has had upgrades to some of its sports areas unlike Conner.

  2. It's showing our age. My kids just cannot understand when I ask "how can kids be best of friends and hang out with your rivals and then have that "kick-their-butt" mentality when you play'em. We hated our rivals and wouldn't be caught dead hanging out with them. In today's world, they beat the crap out of each other on Friday night and they are "Facebook friends" by Saturday...Good Golly!

    Man, the world has changed.

Remember, there are 4 high schools in Boone Co., very close geographically speaking. They go to same parks, movies, they play in same rec. leagues like baseball, soccer and football when they are younger and not divided by district. In the Conner/Cooper scenario, today's seniors went to elementary and middle school together then split them in the 8th grade when Camp Ernst opened, put them back together as Freshman at Conner and then divided them again as sophomores when Cooper opened. Rivals, definitely YES, but enemies, hopefully no. Maybe they are just more mature than you.

And don't forget, we still have that insane setup in BCPWFL that allows them to all play together w/o being divided by district through the 8TH grade! Some of these kids played 7th and 8th grade together on the same teams! They should know weaknesses and strengths like no other. Maybe BCPWFL should learn something from this.

Should be a good game. Cooper has nothing to lose and everything to gain. No pressure on them, if they lose, they weren't expected to win, if the win, they just conquered their 1st 6A win and a huge rival. But...I go with Conner who has everything on the line. Pride and PLAYOFFS! Hard work pays off and Conner will drive with teamwork!

  3. I'm almost at a loss for words. Cougars should have won this game by 2 or 3 tds. Their offense totally laid an egg. Cougars had better wake up if they want a playoff game!!! But one of the most annoying attributes of this game was the CC announcer. PLEASE turn the speakers down a bit. It's one thing to root for your team, and only announce first downs for the home team, and most of the time don't even point out the players of the visiting team on plays, but the volume has to GO! I had a headache when I left that game for more than one reason.

  4. Ok, so let's get back to the question at hand. What's going on and how can it be fixed THIS season? If the JV quarterback is that awesome, is he ready for the varsity level? JV is just that -JV. Developmental but it doesn't buy you a playoff birth. I think Conner's quarterback, Smith is super athletic-can he be a wide receiver or RB and contribute even more with Barker at the helm? We need wins NOW!

  5. Kudos to Conner's defense in this game! They played very well. Let's hope Conner's offense can step it up next week. They played a much better second half, but in a closer game, you can't give away the first half opportunities and hope to make up for it in the next half! Need less penalties too!

  6. You realize that NewCath beat Dixie, and Boone just had a very impressive road win? Not to bash you, but how do you have the Camels ahead of Boone and CovCath?

I think Dixie will improve as the season progresss. They're never very strong out of the gate. So I guess that rank is based on potential.

Campbell Co. has put up some impressive offensive #s, it remains to be seen if they can continue their winning when the schedule gets tougher. But so far, so good.

Boone is a little unknown in my book, some real good position players, I'm just holding out to see how they gel. They can't all be at the top of the list.

And did you forget that Cov Cath got crushed 61-7? They'll have to win more than 1 game to overcome that licking in my rankings. And actually their 7 on 7's were weak. I'm also surprised by their lack of #s on the sidelines. That may be detrimental down the line. I think more than 1 team has to separate Ryle and Cov Cath on the list with a score differential like that-not to mention there are plenty of other good teams out there.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.....until next week of course:D
