  1. Not to be negative, but if being a senior and having size meant something, then they should have won more games than 1. Especially the Carroll Game.

Last year Owen was 3-7 with 2 of those wins against first year programs, (Gallatin & Jackson County) and Pendleton County which was in their 3rd year with a very small bench.

Just my opinion but Owen County needs to figure out what's up.

I was actually at the Owen/Carroll game...........anyone that was there would have seen that it wasn't talent that won the game for Carroll. It was offensive coaching on Owen's part. Anyone who moves the ball as well as Owen did and doesn't score says something about the offensive coaching.

  2. What talent does Owen have that gives them the edge over Hawkes at QB/LB, Jones at DL, Sullivan and Peters at WR/CB...I could go on. Honestly?

I guess 80region is thinking that Owen has the talent but their head coach just doesn't utilize it. Am I correct?

Just a thought for this game but I think Owen's DB's might be able to handle Trimble's WR's. Now as for Trimble's running game. That will bea different story.

When it comes to Owen's offense vs. Trimble's defense.............well you can decide that one for yourself. Just jugding by numbers I've seen and been told about I'm gonna have to give that edge to Trimble.

  3. Oaks has a shoulder injury, Slone was sick. Ogden and Howard were also sick. That's the kicker, the punter, and kick & punt returners. All four are starting defensive backs.

So they were hurting a little. As for the passing game, Cox was the QB. They never had a passing game all year.

They have no recievers, and since the first game they haven't had a QB who could throw.

That explains alot. Thanks for the insight.

  4. Their top 2 running backs, Oaks and Slone were not playing.

Why weren't these two kids playing? Injury? Them not playing gives some insight to the offensive struggle but what about the INTs thrown? What happen to the passing game? They obviously did some passing to get picked off 4 or 5 times.

  5. Not having seniors does seem like that would have a significant effect on a ball game but if CAL's defense scored 4 td's (at least 24 points not counting PAT's) and their punt return team scored one TD that's at least 30 points right there. Just doing the math here but that means Owen's D only gave up 21 at the most.......sounds like to me those seniors would have been needed for offensive needs if they even play offense.

  6. Owen is in trouble. The players do not show up for practice ect.

They dress over 50 players, but there are problems.

If the players don't show up for practice that can be a HUGE problem, but what other problems are there other than the fact that almost every week their line score shows a big 0 beside their name?

  7. From what I was told tonight, Paris was calling their plays out on the field as OC would line up.

I was also told Paris could've had many more points on the board, but the qb kept fumbling the football.

Paris' Des Henson scored on defense, picked up a fumble and ran it in! Way to go big guy!

It wasn't just their QB. The running backs also fumbled the ball once or twice and the QB was picked off once I believe too. I don't know that they would have scored alot more points. Owen's defense did a decent job of keeping Paris out of the redzone. And of the 2 or 3 times Paris was in scoring range Owen only allowed 1 offensive TD. Congrats to Paris on their 1st win.

  8. Go to practice then.

I heard that only 50% of the players show up every day.

Most places they will be gone.

If only 50% of the players show up the big ? is whether or not that 50% are on the field during the game. If the players that play are the ones at practice then whats the big deal. That just means that the players missing are the ones on the sidelines when it counts......friday night. However, Owen isn't exactly blessed with everyone on the team having the potential to be an all-star; therefore, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and play the best players no matter what the situation to give you the best chance to win.

  9. Carroll and Owen both have good offense, it will come down to defense and I will have to give that to Carroll. It's time for a win

    Carroll-24

    Owen - 6

I wouldn't exactly call Owen's offense "good". They do show glimpses of brillance every once in a while, and when this occurs they do move the ball down the field. However, these are indeed just glimpses. Their offense is inconsistant and somehow seem to shoot themselves in the foot. Or at least this is what I gather from the games I have seen them play. From what I hear their defense is starting to struggle now from the past 2 or 3 games.

  10. What if Eminence passes the ball all first half? Will he tell his kids not to go for the interception? What if the first half takes 2 hours? Will he not want to practice his varsity under game conditions for more than a quarter?

It is easy to say he won't let things "get out of hand". However, it is not always as easy as it seems.

I was only stating that he won't run up the score intentionally to build stats or to make himself look good. I was also saying merely saying that his JV team SHOULD be playing by the 2nd quarter IF his varsity squad plays the way they are capable of playing. And by playing the JV, this will allow less of a chance for a varsity player to get injured.

  11. Owen desperately needs a QB that can throw the ball downfield and protection from the O-line. Guys are getting open but they can't get the ball to them

Owen's QB can throw the ball down field if needed. Against Henry Co. the kid threw a nice 25-30 yrd post at the end of the half to a receiver but the DB made a great play on the ball. So if need be they can throw it down the field it seems to me they just choose not to throw the but once in a blue moon. I totally agree with the fact that their O-line needs to protect better for the few times they do throw the ball.

  12. #53 Creech is a dominating player for Owen's D. He always seems to be in the right spot. I don't know if that's due to good football IQ or good coaching or a little bit of both. Boze for DeSales is also a force to be delt with. However, neither are the only focus on each teams D. While both are the prodominate keys for their respective teams D's, both teams have other players that can and will hurt the opposing teams offense.
