  1. You are right Just Jim, it is over the top! When parents shop their kids to other programs thru AAu coaches etc becuase they do not feel that johnny or jimmy is getting a fair deal! Over the top! They are not getting enough exposure at the school they are at and what to move to another program that is having success! Over the top! Coach wont listen to every thing parents tell him and they run him off! over the top! Coaches should get together and tell some of these parents to just keep your sons and daughters where they are! We already have enough headaches of our own!
  2. I heard from Coach Norman Dale, and his AAu recruiting assitant Shooter that they will end up playing for Hickory Huskers! Wearsing Old Gold and Crimson.
  3. No coach can change the mentality about basketball at beechwood as long as the parents pull the administrative strings.
  4. Former walton Coach Dan Trame - New Walton coach Grant Brannen.... Both quality coaches, quality family men. What is going to make the difference in the eyes of the fanatic fans of Walton....AKA (parents)...?
  5. True, I can only think of 4 current 9th region head coaches with region titles. Booher from Holmes, McQuery from Boone Co. , Chevalier from Dixie, Faust at St. Henry. Flynn just retired, and Eric Russell (Newport) is now in the 10th. If that was the only gold star on coaching resumes, it would be slim pickins around here! If I missed someone, sorry!
  6. I feel as a new coach I would need to make basketball more appealing to the younger students in the elementary and middle feeder schools, and get them playing organized ball for my program, not just AAU, etc. Build an in house program that gives the younger players exposure to the coach and his staff, so they want to play for him when iit is time!
  7. I agree Spindoc, but two of the three forementioned schools are in same district as Holmes and Covington Catholic. Tough for them to even get a sniff of the region once a decade!
  8. With two or three powerhouse football schools, Highlands, Beechwood, and even Holy Cross with their recent football success having head basketball coaching openings what does the incoming head coach of each program have to do best in order to build a successful (Winning) program? And at what level do we call success, NKAC title, district titles, region titles, etc etc?
  9. Until Beechwood makes at least a half hearted attempt to put time and money into the basketball program (gym upgrade, administration support) it will be a tall task for any coach to find success there.
  10. South Dearborn could have Rick Pitino as there head coach and it would be a disaster! Just don't bash the coach who gave Beechwood there best success, and I never said he wanted to come back to Beechwood.
  11. Meant to say NKAC Div. III teams. in prior post
  12. Wa Wa obviously you know nothing of the coaching situation at beechwood. 1. Michael Romes never played for Shumate, Brian Romes did. 2. During his 4 years at Beechwood they were 55-1 agaisnt the NKAC teams. JV lost only 3 games to those same teams. 3. In order to become more competitive in post season Beechwood had to play stronger teams night in and night out. Shumate and his staff made that happen along with administration. 4. As far as his success in Indiana, he won 9 games this year with a team that preaseason probably should have won 2 or 3. The 3A state champions were in his conference in Greensburg. Batesville lost 2 games all year, both 2 Greensburg. The guy can coach! 5. People do not really know the main reasons why he left Beechwood when he did, if you know him ask him, but the team was not in rebuilding mode. He left 3 or 4 returning starters coming back the 1st year. Yes schedule was tougher, but Shumate had the kids playing at a high level and they liked playing for him. Chemistry says alot for a program!!! It is not always just X's and O's!!!
