gold sunrise
Southern heads night of thrillers, beats Bullitt Central 45-44 Alan Almanza’s contested layup with eight seconds remaining lifted Southern over visiting Bullitt Central 45-44 on Friday night. Pat Horsley and Randell Pickett each scored 11 for Southern (20-6). “The kids set a goal last spring to win 20 games,” Trojans coach Todd Raque said. “It’s been a great season, and I think (the players) have confidence that we can go out on any given night and play with anybody.” http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20120210/SPORTS05/302100133/1031/sports/Notebook-Southern-heads-night-thrillers-beats-Bullitt-Central-45-44?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|Sports|s
traque2
What a great high school basketball game! Great atmosphere (homecoming for Southern), district opponents, and important district seeding on the line. No doubt it would come down to the buzzer! Alan Almanza scores to put Southern up one with 8 seconds left, but Caleb Craddock (underated point guard from Bullitt Central) goes coast to coast and misses a contested lay up at the buzzer! Could have been a block or a charge- but no call was made. If Craddock played for PRP, Moore, or even Bullitt East, everyone would know him, and be talking about him! The kid can play! No Bopper Stenzel, but is definitely in the top 3 PG I have seen this year.
