Boone County 50 Walton Verona 44

Featured Replies

Tight game throughout. Walton had their chances but couldn't hit the 3's. Walton shot poorly from behind the 3 point arc and Boone dominated the boards. Good win for Boone and a quality lose for the Lady Cats. Walton moves on to play another Top 20 team tomorrow - South Oldham.

Among all the normal talk of Sydney Moss of her obvious athleticism and talent, I want to throw something else out there. I was very impressed with her sportsmanship. For real...a couple of times she offered to help a Walton girl up off the floor and once after an "aggressive" play and tangle up, she gave her opponent a friendly pat on the shoulder. All this on a night that seemed to me, where she was struggling, like shots not going in, and a couple of air balls. It was just cool to see a her not get angry, frustrated and lose her sportsmanship when she could have very easily. Don't know if that matters to anyone, but I just happened to take notice.

As far as WV, I was impressed. Other than getting out rebounded down the stretch and in the final 2 minutes, thought they played well and looked very good against a quick and physical Boone County.

I agree. At times she was frustrated about her play but she didn't let that effect her sportsmanship. Walton does not have anything to hang their head about. They fought hard against the #3 team in the State and actually had their chances to pull the upset.
