GRC's Alex White claims cross country regional title

Alex White has done it again.

The George Rogers Clark senior claimed his second consecutive individual title Saturday during the Class 3A Region 7 cross country meet at Lykins Park. White captured the event in 16:44.07, setting a region record and shattering the course record in his final appearance in his final home meet. The finish also was a personal-best for the Clark senior.

As a team, Clark finished fourth with 101 points and advances to Saturday’s state meet at the Kentucky Horse Park. Pulaski County claimed first-place honors with a 42.

“The boys team is pleased to be heading back to state for the second year in a row,” Clark coach Dodd Dixon said.

Clark’s Grayson Brookshire followed White with an 18:34.90 and was named a second-team all-region performer. Brookshire was followed by Ben Petrey, Brandon Bailey and James Banks, who finished in the 18:50s. Clay Dixon had a 19:37.41 and Cody Cox recorded a 20:15.41.

In the girls’ race, Clark senior Tiffany Toler was fifth overall to lead the Lady¿Cardinals to a fourth-place finish with 94 points. Pulaski County was first with 51 points.
