Cards can't stop Henry Clay

It was disappointing,” Clark coach Paul Columbia said afterward. “Even though they were 0-4, they had played some pretty good teams.”

Columbia added that he didn’t think his team was looking ahead to next week’s contest at Scott County or overlooking the Blue Devils.

“We told the players not (to look past Henry Clay) and we had a good week of practice, but it’s hard to tell,” he said. “It just didn’t work out for us.”

Clark failed to regain its swagger against the Blue Devils following a 40-19 loss last week at Bryan Station. The Blue Devils scored the first touchdown three plays into the contest and never trailed.

Clark’s only score during the first three quarters was Darian Skinner’s 34-yard interception return for a score with 6:06 remaining in the first half. Clark (2-2) didn’t score an offensive touchdown until backup quarterback Christian Cooke connected on a 36-yard touchdown pass to Brent Stoneking with 8:44 remaining. By then, the Blue Devils had built a commanding 34-7 advantage. Clark used four different quarterbacks and various formations, but couldn’t get on track offensively.
