George Rogers Clark isn’t ready to surrender its 40th District title just yet.Although the No. 3 seed and taking on the visitors role on their own field, the Lady Cardinals advanced to the finals of the tournament with an exciting 3-1 triumph over Bourbon County Tuesday night at Cardinal Heights.

 

Clark coach Matt Puckett said the victory consisted of a “team effort” despite four hits against Bourbon pitcher Haley Wagner, who retired the first 12 batters she faced before Williams laced a double to open the fifth frame.“They found a way to get one run and when we got the one run, we came back and got two big hits (in the seventh inning),” Puckett said. “You get a two-run lead against a team like (Bourbon), you really have to take it home because they are a really good team.
