gold sunrise Posted February 22, 2011 Author Share Posted February 22, 2011 Prep Basketball: Lady Cards roll in district opener PARIS — Taylor Kindred made sure George Rogers Clark didn’t suffer a letdown in the opening round of the 40th District Tournament Monday night. The senior guard scored 13 of Clark’s first 19 points to lead the Lady Cardinals to a 60-28 victory over host Bourbon County. Clark advances to the finals and will take on Montgomery County at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bourbon County. The Lady Indians earned a spot in the finale following a 65-56 triumph over Paris in the second of two first-round contests. Both teams will advance to next week’s 10th Region Tournament at Bourbon County. In the opener, the Lady Colonels led 4-2 briefly, but Clark (21-7) answered with an impressive 17-0 run to close out the first quarter. Kindred knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 13 points during the decisive spurt.
