When it mattered, defense came through for the George Rogers Clark girls basketball team.

The Lady Cards collected two steals in the closing minutes and held off Franklin County 53-50 Thursday night in Frankfort. The win pushed Clark’s winning streak to seven games.

“It was a very solid effort against one of the best teams in the 11th Region,” Clark coach Scott True said. “Our defense was very solid throughout the night, but very good in the fourth quarter.”
