Cooper 12 Lloyd 5

Featured Replies

Griggs goes 5 innings for the win. Cooper was up 10-0 going to bottom of 5 and Lloyd scored 3 to extend the game. Pretty solid defense for Cooper tonight. Multiple hit game by Blank 2-4, Bjurquist 4-5 and Griggs 2-4. Cooper gets their 8th win surpassing last seasons win total. They now stand at 8-10 with a game at Conner tomorrow night.

When will Cooper be making up their seeding game against Conner?

Tomorrow night.

Thompson ready to go?

I assume he will pitch. Cooper has had one game in the last week, being last night, and Griggs pitched that one. Other than getting a nice win I don't think this game matters as far as seeding.

I did hear last night that Cooper's JV team beat Conner on Tuesday night so their Varsity may want to help them get some payback. I think this JV Cooper win was the first win for Cooper baseball at any level within the district.

Actually, it could very well have a huge impact. If you were to knock off Conner and Ryle were also to beat Conner, then you would end up the #3 seed (and play #2 Ryle in district tourney) and Conner would be #4 seed and play #1 Boone in tourney. If you beat Conner and Ryle loses to Conner, then all three teams would be 1-2 and there would be a tiebreaker of some sort, and I have no idea what it would be. If you lose to Conner, then the Ryle-Conner game essentially becomes meaningless, since those two teams will end up the #2 and #3 seeds regardless.

You are correct. I guess when I read Ryan Ernst article last week it just assumed Boone would play Cooper since they won the #1 seed. While Boone would be the favorite, the article came across as Boone basically making the region. I thought he listed Ryle would play Conner assuming already that they would be the 2 and 3 seed.

Now, it would be a huge upset for Cooper to beat Conner, Boone or Ryle this year, but, as I always have said.... Baseball can be a funny game.:thumb:

I will also add that Coach Bieger has changed the batting order and a couple of fielding spots in the last week. He also called 3 players out for not being the leaders that they should be on the field. I won't go into details but we've played two games since and all three contributed and performed much better in those two games (Cov Cath and Lloyd). I want to see what the boys can do tonight. They should at least be competitive.
