Lets say the the visiting team is winning 6-4 bottom of the 7th and the starting pitcher is still in the game. The home team ties the game in the bottom of the 7th. Now the game is tied 6-6 going into the 8th the visiting team scores 1 run and a new pitcher comes in and gets three outs for the visiting team. I would like too know who gets the win the starting pitcher or the pitcher that pitched the 8th ininning.

My guess would be the starter gets the win the relief gets a save.

If the visiting team's pitcher finished the seventh inning and his/her team are tied going into the eighth inning AND the visiting team takes the lead in the top half of the eighth, the pitcher of record would be the pitcher who finished the previous inning....so in this case the starter would be the pitcher of record.

 

with all of this having been said, the starter would get the win and the person who replaced him would get the save.
