Bardstown 50 Nelson Co. 42

Featured Replies

Nelson Co. finished the first half on a 10-0 run and looked to be in the driver's seat despite being without the services of All-Stater Samantha Drake, who's out with a high ankle sprain. But the Tigers opened the second half with a 7-0 run of their own to get back in it, then closed the game with a 9-2 spurt.

Daizah Kimberland, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, tallied 22 points, 10 boards and three assists. She scored 17 points in the second half. The Tigers outscored the Cardinals 33-16 in the second half.

On another note, congratulations to Kimberland, who was honored at halftime of the boys' game for entering the 1,000-point club -- she's just the seventh member -- in a game against Taylor Co. just before the Christmas break. As a junior, she's a lock to finish her career as the school's all-time leading scorer for girls. She might have done so last year as a sophomore were it not for the knee injury.

Best wishes to Drake on a speedy recovery. She's been snake-bit with injuries during her senior season.
