I have always seen forfeits scored 1-0. The KHSAA scoreboard is showing them 2-0.

 

1-0 makes sense because if you see that in a record book, then you know it was a forfiet. A game that had been played could end 2-0 but not 1-0.

 

I do know that if a game has been forfeited after the game has been played and the forfeiting team was the loser, then the actual game score stands.

 

Who knows the actual rule on scoring a forfeit?

I was told years ago that the scoring is based on the least number of points possible on an individual play for the sport in question. For football, that is a safety (2 pts). Point after touchdown (PAT) is not considered an individual play because it must follow a TD.

In 2004, Danville had to forfeit its first two games (Garrard County and Lincoln County). Look at the KHSAA scoreboard which shows those scores as 1-0.

 

That same year, Highlands was forced to forfeit 12 games. Those are all shown as 1-0.

 

I can't find a rule on this but the only difference could be whether or not the game was played and then forefeited. This weekend, several games were cancelled and forfeited instead of being played and subsequently forfeited.

But if offended team is ahead, the score stands.
