CovCath took a 17 to nothing lead in the first quarter but Ryle never quit and if not for a dropped pass near the goal line late in the fourth quarter, Ryle would have won this game.

It was a very exciting and entertaining game and both teams played hard.

Both teams young QB's (CovCath #9 Reese & Ryle #2) impressed me quite a bit as did the CovCath RB (#28 Gray) and the WR for Ryle (#7 Mason ?)

Other than the dropped pass, the play of the game was a blocked PAT by CovCath. Ryle had just scored a TD and it would have brought the CovCath lead down to three with the PAT, but CovCath just ran through the interior line of Ryle and easily blocked the PAT attempt. This forced Ryle to go for a TD rather than a FG late in the game.

It was strange having to wear a light wind breaker or seeing some of the ladies in sweat shirts, at a CovCath football game in August. Usually it is hotter than heck!

The CovCath JV next game is against Cincinnati Moeller @ Cincinnati Moeller on Monday August 31 @ 5:30

#2 for Ryle is Caleb Lonkard (junior). He could start for 3/4 of the teams in NKY. He has the misfortune of playing behind one of the better QB's in NKY (Hempel), but sees varsity time on special teams and some DB. And he's a very good baseball player.

Caleb is one of the smartest football players I have ever coached. He is very good football player and young man.:thumb:
