Dixie 12 Cooper 2

Final in 5 innings from yesterday.

 

It was Senior Night for the Colonels and held the ceremony before the game. Dixie is graduating five seniors this season and all will be missed. All five have been with the program for many years and have contributed in great ways.

 

The graduating seniors are:

 

1B Eric Fischesser

2B Brent Lessley

3B Derek Bohn

OF/P Ryan Chamberlain

OF/P Robby Koors

 

Thanks for a great few years boys and best of luck in future endeavors.

 

Now to the game.

 

Top 1 (Cooper): Thompson got a single to start the game. Williamson walked. Cooper put on a double steal to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Ramey struck out. 1 out. Griggs hit a ball back to the pitcher (Smallwood) and Smallwood caught Thompson too far off third base. 2 outs on the 1-5 putout. Bjurkuist then hit a RBI single to right field to score Williamson but was thrown out after rounding first base too far. The putout went 9-2-3. 1-0 Cooper.

 

Bottom 1 (Dixie): Klei singled and advanced to third on an errant pick off throw. Popham then went 1-3. 1 out. Lessley singled Klei in to tie the score. Lessley then proceeded to steal second and third. Fischesser struck out. 2 outs. Bohn hit an RBI single to score Lessley. Lubrano followed with another single to put runners on first and second. Chamberlain then followed with a 2 RBI double. Koors flew out to right to end the inning. 4-1 Dixie.

 

Top 2 (Cooper): Dickman struck out. 1 out. Wilke walked. Smallwood then struck out Collins. 2 outs. Morris was then hit with a pitch in the face. I hope the young man is okay. Thompson followed with a single to load the bases. Smallwood then got Williamson to fly out to right to end the threat. 4-1 Dixie.

 

Bottom 2 (Dixie): Stegner led off with a triple and scored when Klei hit an RBI groundout (6-3). 1 out. Popham then grounded out to short. 2 outs. Lessley singled and scored when Fischesser followed with an RBI double. Bohn then hit a ball to third that was misplayed and Fischesser scored. The inning ended on a ground out, 6-3, by Lubrano. 7-1 Dixie.

 

Top 3 (Cooper): Smallwood was replaced on the mound by Burney for Dixie. Ramey reached base to lead off via an E5. Griggs then went 1-3. 1 out. Bjurkuist walked. Dickman then hit an RBI fielder's choice. 2 outs. Then Wilke single but Collins struck out to end the inning. 7-2 Dixie.

 

Bottom 3 (Dixie): Chamberlain flew out to right. 1 out. Koors grounded out 5-3. 2 outs. Stegner then singled. Klei followed with a 5-3 putout. 7-2 Dixie.

 

Top 4 (Cooper): Burney struck out. 1 out. Thompson got on via an E6. Williamson popped out to second. 2 outs. Ramey then hit a FC to Stegner at short who went to Lessley at second to retire Thompson. 7-2 Dixie.

 

Bottom 4 (Dixie): Popham led off with a double and advanced to third on a single by Lessley. Lessley then stole second. Fischesser was hit by the pitch to load the bases. All runners moved up on a passed ball (scoring Gross who was courtesy running for Popham). Bohn was then walked to load the bases again. Wolfe (pinch hitting for Lubrano) struck out followed by another strike out of Chamberlain. 2 outs. Koors then went 1-3. 8-2 Dixie.

 

Top 5 (Cooper): Griggs went 5-3. 1 out. Bjurkuist walked. Dickman struck out. 2 outs. And then Wilke got out but I don't know how as I forgot to write it down. 8-2 Dixie.

 

Bottom 5 (Dixie): Winters (pinch hitting for Stegner) went 1-3. 1 out. Dettmer (pinch hitting for Klei) then walked. Popham singled. Lessley was hit by pitch to load the bases. Fischesser then had an RBI walk. Bohn then had an RBI walk. Wolfe then hit an RBI single. Chamberlain then hit a FC which erased Wolfe going to second but the 12th run (Fischesser) crossed the plate to end the game. 12-2 Dixie.
