Lincoln picks up their first district win of the season against Boyle Co. This is the first time Lincoln has beaten Boyle since the 2006 District Tournament. This is a big confidence boost for the Patriots. Brandon Weir pitched the complete game after being out for two weeks with a pulled muscle in his leg. He looked good on the mound last night. He kept Boyle off balance with his off-speed stuff, which was working really well for him. Several Patriots had hits and they took advantage of some Boyle mistakes. Garrick Whittle started for Boyle and I think he lasted 3 innings, followed by Logan Tritapoe, and finally Blake Bottoms.

Good win for the Patriots. When is the District Tournanament?

 

Does Lincoln Play Danville in the first round?

District tournament starts on May 18. I don't think they've decided the pairings yet. Because Boyle and Danville both have two district losses, it comes down to runs allowed. There seems to be confusion over whether it is total runs allowed in ALL district games or runs allowed between Danville and Boyle. There's a district meeting on Friday to decide the pairings so I guess we'll wait until then to find out.

Correction on the pitching for Boyle: Whittle pitched through the first part of the third inning, replaced by Blake Bottoms in the third, Jocob Bodner came in to relieve in the fourth, and Cody Morris came in the sixth inning.
