Male 5 Trinity 4

Featured Replies

Not able to make the game. Can anyone provide any updates? Is Male really better than Trinity?

Saw the box score in the Courier. Male is off to an 8-0 start. Baseball is a funny game, though. When you say, is Male really better than Trinity. Are you talking about the best out of 7? Armstrong pitched for Trinity. What would/could happen if Littrell pitched? These things can make a difference.

Littrell started.

Littrell started.

And pitched most of the game.

Lack of warning track led to a misplay on defense.

Some lack of control by relief staff cost the Rocks at the end. It is early in the season.

Rocks were fortunate to win the Ryle game 1-0 prior to the Male loss as the Raiders tested Rocks CF arm and he gunned down their potential tying run.

The Seventh Region will be a competitive mess this season as predicted back in January. Male, Manual, Eastern, St. X, Trinity, and a Ballard team currently with a losing or .500 record could all win this region. Everyone has their staff ace. Many have a very good #2. The first team to develop a proven #3 will be the clear cut favorite.

Thanks for the update. Lack of warning track is no excuse, OF's should know what to expect when they take their position. Lack of control by relief staff may be a coach thing or a mental thing. Still early in the season. So Male has seen Trinity's best, in Littrell, and held their own. As for the testing of the CF arm, isn't this kid a 2 year starter? His arm has already been tested and he is suppose to make the throws...

competitive.

Interesting comment....How many teams work on playing the fence/warning track? I see so many outfields that have not prepared to field balls hit to the fence. I often see so little communication between outfielders to better gauge where the fence is. This skill takes practice and repetition. How many teams practice it?

Littrell gave up 3 runs and came out with runners on base and score tied, sophomore third baseman Armstrong came in relief and gave up homerun in extra innings and a bases loaded walk to end the game. I'd be surprised if there were a better high school game this year, two very evenly matched teams.

There were two excellent games played earlier on the same field that both of these teams were involved in... Male beat Ryle 3-2 and Trinity beat Ryle 1-0.

I'm not sure Littrell is Trinity's best. Rueff is the number 1 for now.

Both are very good pitchers. If both stay healthy, Trinity should go far.
