My first time seeing Male's field. Absolutely beautiful. I am curious - would this be considered the nicest high school facility in Louisville after PRP? If not, what other field(s) match up with this? Just a neat place to watch a baseball game.

 

Ryle got a great pitching performance from Renda - 5 1/3 innings with 2 runs (only one earned). Hempel did a nice job in relief. Unfortunatley two errors - one of them a very untimely one in the 7th inning - led to two unearned runs and the difference in the game.

 

Ryle got 2 solo HR's by Meier and Hoskins and had a 2-1 lead after 4 innings, but got minimal offense beyond that. A total of 6 or 7 hits, but nothing outside the HR's hit overly hard and just seem like they can't string any hits together and certainly nothing timely. Credit certainly to Male's pitcher, who did a nice job, but this had as much to do with a Ryle offense that is struggling something fierce.

I was also blown away with Male's facility... They have a very solid team. Once again Ryle plays tough against a real good team and doesn't get the offense to get the job done.

St. X is blessed with a new field within the last couple of years. It has artificial turf like U of L's.

Must be nice and I would love to see it sometime... what I liked about this complex is how it was connected to the school with walkways. The grounds crew did a terrific job of getting the field ready after all the rain from the day and night before.:notworthy:

Male indeed does have a great complex as I was there last year watching games being played there doing the LIT. Really looking forward to seeing the St. X complex in about two weeks, again in the LIT.

I agree with the tough schedule TOG, the hard part comes in keeping the boys believing that they are a good, competitive ball club when you lose all these close games early in the season. I still contend the weather has been a killer so far this year, practice is always good but never replace live game situations.
