Ye Old Rivalry will never die. But it seemed to be in critical condition as the last time Manual had beaten Male was 1988. And this year it was doubtfully going to be any different. Bush, Blackerby, Spencer, and a score of other talents gleamed from Male's roster. Keenan Burton, the only recognizable name on Manual's, had only begun to be glanced at by recruiters. But this wasn't his time to shine so much as it was for the entire Crimson body - players, scrubs, coaches, fans, and FAMILY. The word 'family' being the breaking motto for the Crimsons since the first day of conditioning that season, with rookie coach Joe Nichols. This Manual team was not the most talented. Not the biggest, strongest, or fastest. But on that perfect night in October, they were a family, and together, they beat the star-studded Male team, unleashing a rush of fans on the field that was only to be wished for those 13 years before.

 

Ask any member of that Crimson family to list their top 5 moments in life - standing atop the hill at Manual Stadium roaring the fight song to the massive crowd will undoubtedly be among them.
