Nelson Co. gives the newly-minted No. 1 team in the state (per Cantrall's Ratings) a big scare in Radcliff.

North Hardin had a huge first quarter behind the arc, hitting five three-pointers as NC struggled to find the bucket and fell behind by as many as 18. Jennifer Smiley was especially hot in the early going. But the Cardinals gradually chipped away, and trimmed the lead to one late in the third quarter.

But Destiny Bramblett drew foul No. 4 on Samantha Drake on a desperation three heave at the end of the third quarter, and NH went up by five. The Trojans hit their free throws down the stretch to overcome a monster 42/17 night by Drake. Bramblett (18/6) made several key plays down the stretch, as did Smiley, who was 6-for-11 on threes and had a career-high 30 to go with six assists.

I get a feeling these two teams will meet again in the region.

Check that. Drake had 19 rebounds.
