Jim Schue Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 The champion of the toughest region outside of Louisville and Lexington will be decided at North Hardin. District champs are listed first, and will serve as the home team. The tourney will feature 12th Region officials. Monday Green Co. (22-7) v. Nelson Co. (16-14), 6 p.m. E'town (23-7) v. Adair Co. (12-15), 8 p.m. Tuesday Bardstown (25-5) v. North Hardin (22-7). 6 p.m. Marion Co. (28-3) v. Hart Co. (20-11), 8 p.m. Semfinals 6/8 p.m. on Friday; Championship 7 p.m. Saturday
Jim Schue Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 The bottom half of the draw is where the power is in this region, with Hart, Marion and North all spending time in the BGP and other rankings, while Bardstown, an "All A" Classic semfinalist, has the best overall record. E'town figures to come out of the top half, but Nelson County has played one of the tougher schedules in the state, so they've seen plenty of top-10 teams, and with Drake can be a tough out for anyone.
Tim Burr Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 How good is Drake? Is she all that she is made out to be? I heard she has nothing around her and gets tripled teamed at times. she puts up big numbers if that is true.
Jim Schue Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 How good is Drake? Is she all that she is made out to be? I heard she has nothing around her and gets tripled teamed at times. she puts up big numbers if that is true. She never has fewer than two people hanging off her. What she got against Bardstown the other night (28/15/3ast/4blk) was with three on her most of the time. She's really improved late in the season at absorbing contact and finishing, and she's hitting free throws better as well. She's averaged 25/15 over the past 10 games or so. Nelson Co. will be a top-20 team next year, and may be top-10 by the end of next season if Drake's surrounding cast improves like I think they can. She should be a preseason first-team all state next year as a junior.
