While I think there can be no real answer to a mythical matchup of previous years teams, we can all speculate pretty well on the future of this rivalry.

CCHS is coming off a very rough season while the Birds are flying high. Does Cov Cath rebound as Highlands did last season (after a so so 06') or do the Colonels struggle for another season or longer? What about HHS? Do they follow up an undefeated season with another great year or not? How long until either team seriously contends for the 5A title?

I truly believe that HHS will contend next season for "back to back" titles. And think that CovCath will be their major impediment to that goal. Remember: This Class was undefeated as freshmen and so was the incoming Jr class...so the talent pool is there! Now what awaits down state is unknown to me...but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

I agree, HHS will be in the mix this fall! Lots of proven talent coming back and more to be discovered!

Well, I believe that both teams (HHS and CCH) lose a lot, but do return some key contributors from 2007.

There's no doubt that CCH had a bit of a down year last season, but given the fact that the team was breaking in a new coach and coaching system, plus the fact that the team lost a TON of talent to graduation from 2006's championship squad, it's not very surprising that 2007 was a "transition" year. Keep in mind that even though the Colonels were down, they were still a team to be reckoned with by the end of the 2007 season (consider what they did to Dixie at Dixie in the playoff rematch for proof). I suspect that CCH will settle in more and experience more success in 2008!

Let's face it... as long as Mueller is there at Highlands, HHS will be in the thick of it for state title contention. There is NO reason to think otherwise for the upcoming season!

Oh, and you can go ahead and lock this up now... when these two play at HHS next season, there won't be a 40-point score differential (I know this is going out on such a HUGE limb!!!!).
