It seems that solid footwork and pivoting are missing from a lot of female basketball players. Is this not being taught at the elementary and middle school levels? I know officials have a hard time working games and determining what a travel is. It seem as if the officials call some travels, but sort of get away from calling them as the game goes on. Am I correct on this?

I haven't been watching girls basketball long enough to know if foot work and pivoting skills have declined. But I have noticed that when someone takes the time to work on these two skills it really improves there ability to score around the basket. No matter how big they are.

On the traveling issue it seems that the officials do let it slide sometimes especially if there is contact with an opposing player.
