Hensley Rating System's Class 4A Picks (Playoff Week #1)

Featured Replies

Well folks, it is back and will be up and running for every week of the post-season. As a refresher course, the HRS works this way:

(Cantrall Rating + Litkenhous Rating) / 2 = Hensley Rating

Now when I apply the HR to each game that is being played, the home team gets an added 6 points for home field advantage with two exceptions only...1)when both teams use the same field for their home games and 2) when there is a neutral field being used an will be represented in the selections with a ^ .

Now on to the selections for the first round of the Prep Bowl playoffs.

(Please note that each team's seed in their district will be in parenthesis preceeding the particular team)

(1) Lone Oak defeats (4) Muhlenberg North by 72.35

(2) Calloway County defeats (3) Hopkins County Central by 14.9

(1) Marion County defeats (4) LaRue County by 13.4

(2) Bullitt East defeats (3) North Bullitt by 11

(1) Warren East defeats (4) Russell County by 40.9

(2) Franklin-Simpson defeats (3) Logan County by 29.85

(1) Valley defeats (4) Atherton by 49.55

(2) Fairdale defeats (3) Western by 8.85

(1) Franklin County defeats (4) Bourbon County by 52.2

(2) Harrison County defeats (3) Pendleton County by 35.45

all higher seeds except for Rock win! I guess playoff tested Rock justifies why there are 4 teams making tourney instead of just 2 teams from each district.

The only problem that the KHSAA doesn't see is that in all other sports, both district winner and runner up advance. In football, after week 2, half of them are going home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Old playoff format is better, at least you can convince school, fans, and anyone else that a new opponent is more worthy then the 4 seed your team already dominated in the regular season. ? who knows, but something needs fixin!
