Golf Individual qualifiers!

Featured Replies

Just had a question. Did any of the regions give a State Individiual Qualifier a medal, plaque, etc.? I know our region didn't give anything, just wondering is that how it is all over the state. I think this is a big honor for these kids to qualify for the state and not receive anything for it! Yes i know they get to play in the state tourney, but I think they should get the 3 or 5 individuals together and take their pictures as well as the 1st and 2nd place teams pictures and get them something for this accomplishment. Just my opinion, that and a $1 might get you a bottle of water.:fire:

The awards are handled and sent to the regional site manager by the KHSAA. It includes a winning team and runnerup trophy. In addition, trophies and a plaque for the medalist and 1st runnerup is sent.

Those trophies are ordered and paid for by the KHSAA.

I understand that, but just don't understand why the others are not recognized with a plaque or medal of some kind! Would be a nice thing to do and not cost the KHSAA to much money at all.

11 Regions at 5 golfers per region on the girls side is 55 golfers.

12 regions at 3 golfers per region on the boys side is 36 golfers.

And if you give individual awards to the qualifiers than you have to do the 5 members of the team too.

So that is 10 team members per the 23 regions for 230 golfers.

So, now you want medals for 321 golfers at "not too much of a cost to the KHSAA." I would estimate that would be $1,000 cost for a sport that provides not nary a penny of revenue to the KHSAA.

Nothing against the individual schools picking up a plaque or medal for that person and presenting it to them at their school banquet.

Oh it's not like they don't make a killing at the KHSAA office anyways. All the money they are going to make at 6 state tournament football games and the Sweet 16 Basketball tourney, your telling me they couldn't buy a 50 cent medal or some type of recognitional something, give me a break, that is a poor excuse. All state participants in whatever sport should get something, it's a great honor and should be looked at like that. And yes it's easy for the schools to all take care of this at banquets or whatever, but we are a part of the KHSAA and they should take care of this, they could probably of gotten them donated if they would of tried.

If they bought and presented a 50 cent medal, there would be a thread on here ripping the KHSAA for presenting them with a cheap medal.

And if the schools take care of it, in essence, that is the KHSAA taking care of it. The KHSAA is NOT, I repeat NOT, those in the KHSAA offices. It is the high schools themselves.

If you are this passionate about it, have your part of the KHSAA, the principal and AD of your local school present a proposal at the 2008 delegate assembly on this matter. It is too late to get a proposal on the 2007 delegate assembly that meets later this month.
