After finishing the first game on at 1:30am on Saturday morning, then playing the second game that started at noon, and finally ended at 3:30pm after playing nine innings, the Colonels came out totally flat in this the third game of the day. Ballard in the first two inning had earned a 7-0 lead, and a lot of CovCath fans were thinking oh boy a blowout. CovCath didn't quit and they had every reason too, but the team continue to fight and got back into the game at one point down only 8-7, before the bodies just wore out.

 

Senior Matthew Reis for CovCath had 5 hits, 4 walks and a SF in the two games. CovCath played very well in the field considering the wind at Ballard Saturday was blowing like it does at Chicago Wrigley field. It was not a pitchers day or is Ballard ballpark a pitchers haven.....

 

On a side note, Now I understand why so maybe kids who love football in Louisville go to "T" or "X". Both PRP and Ballard while having outstanding beautiful baseball fields, have some of the worse football fields I have seen. While we in NKy don't have baseball field anywhere close to what these two school have, not many schools in NKy have as poor of a football field as I saw at these two schools.....

 

CovCath next game is Tuesday at Dixie (Turkeyfoot).....

 

The quality of pitching and teams that the Colonles faced over the course of this weekend will only help these young men later in the season. Keep your head high guys, you played great.....

I can think of quite a few reasons that they have not to quit. The biggest one wears a #20 on his back.
