I thought Powell was supposed to be pretty decent this season.

Powell County does have a good team this year. Pitching in a long week with six games is a key and Powell was almost out of pitching for the Madison Central game. Madison Central game was a non region game for Powell so Coach Varney chose to use his top three pitchers against region team like Perry Central, Lee County and Leslie County. Madison Central has very good team and against Powell's weaker pitchers they hit the ball well.

Powell was forced to pitch a group of young men that had trouble finding the strike zone. Probably wasn't 10 earned runs in the entire game for both sides. Miserable cold and nasty. Powell is better than the score showed but take nothing from MC. They took what was given to them and took advantage of it.
