6th Region: Week 11

Featured Replies

The post-season is almost upon us and it is definitely the Jeffersontown and Butler show. Can somebody else rise to make a post-season run? There are certainly a handful of teams capable.

Not much change in the rankings other than Moore falling and North Bullitt entering the top ten. Things have been pretty "stable" as we approach what still may be a postseason filled with surprises.

Rankings:

1. Jeffersontown - The Chargers will finish the regular season undefeated in district play and 6-1 in regional play. They play three out-of-region teams this week as they face Ballard, North Oldham and CAL in what should be a great tune-up week for the postseason run.

2. Butler - The Bears got wins over Fern Creek and PRP last week. They face Oldham County and the Christian Educational Consortium to end the regular season. They have locked up the 1 seed in the district and will await the winner of Iroquois and Western, both teams who they have dispatched with ease this year.

3. WEB DuBois - It has been a great first year in the 6th Region for the Lions. They have a chance at getting to the twenty win mark if they can beat Ballard and Bullitt East this week. This past week they defeated Fairdale, Moore and South Central (IN).

4. Evangel Christian - The Eagles defeated Whitefield Academy and Campbellsville but fell to Great Crossing in double overtime. They have six games in six days currently on their schedule this week - Lincoln County, CAL, Western Hills, Atherton, Warren Central and North Bullitt. It will be interesting to see if they cancel any. If not, what a wild week to get prepared for the postseason.

5. DeSales - The Colts ran right over Doss and Valley before falling to Eastern. Cameron Bischoff had 23 in the Valley win and 26 in the loss to Eastern. They face Trinity and Breckinridge County this week. They have a rematch against Doss in two weeks as their only hurdle to the regional tournament.

6. Fairdale - The Bulldogs' week last week may signify that they are ready for a postseason run. They are now going to be the 1 seed in the district, having gone undefeated as they beat Valley and Holy Cross (this one by virtue of forfeit) last week. They also beat Bullitt Central and came within 5 points of WEB DuBois. They almost certainly will be in the regional tournament. They have South Oldham, North Oldham and the Bluegrass Blazers this week.

7. Pleasure Ridge Park - The Panthers defeated Central and competed with, but ultimately lost to, Butler. They have Male and Seneca this week. They are the two seed in their district and poised to return to the regional tournament.

8. Bullitt Central - The Cougars are 6-1 in their last 7, Fairdale being their only blemish.  They have Highlands Latin, Marion County, and Central Hardin this week.

9. North Bullitt - The Eagles defeated district foe Bullitt East after also defeating LKY and falling to Seneca. They have the talent to compete against most anyone but have played a softer than average schedule. They have Western, Valley, Meade County and Evangel Christian this week.

10. Moore - Though they have slid a bit, they are still on the hook for the 1 seed in their district and have been playing tough competition. They lost to Evangel Christian, Waggener, and WEB DuBois last week. They have LKY and Fern Creek this week.

11. Bullitt East - And here is a yet another 23rd district team. Besides Southern, any of these four teams ranked 8th through 11th really could escape the district tournament. The Chargers play Valley and WEB DuBois as they prepare.

12. Valley - The Vikings lost to Fairdale, Meade County, and DeSales. They North Bullitt and Bullitt East this week.

13. Whitefield Academy - The Wildcats wrap up the regular season with Collegiate and Calvary Christian. They are coming off back-to-back wins.

14. Fern Creek - The Tigers have Holy Cross, Moore, and Eminence this week as they join Whitefield as the underdogs in the 24th district. It appears it should be JTown as the 1 seed, Evangel Christian and WEB DuBois in the 2/3 game and Whitefield and Fern Creek in the 4/5 but we will hopefully get confirmation on that this week.

15. Holy Cross - The Cougars forfeited their last game. Hopefully they are back and ready to go this week to take on Fern Creek, Brown and Western.

16. Southern - The Trojans still haven't won in over a month. They hope to change that this week as they face the Christian Educational Consortium, Doss, and Washington County.

17. Doss - The Dragons wrap up regular season play against Southern and Waggener. DeSales awaits them in the district tournament the week after.

18. Western - The Warriors have a very busy week and actually kick off postseason play on Sunday. Before that game with Iroquois, they have North Bullitt, Eastern, Waggener, and Holy Cross.

19. Iroquois - As stated, district tournament play in the region starts Sunday as the Raiders take on Western. They lost the regular season game by 11. They tune up for that against Collegiate and Brown.
