6th Region: Week 8

Featured Replies

It was a lighter week as some games Friday and almost all games Saturday were scrubbed due to weather. It has become clear that Jeffersontown tops a group of 4 teams at the top who can be considered the contenders for this region. The next 3 or 4 remain competitive but beyond that it is hard to imagine anyone else causing a whole lot of fuss down the stretch.

Rankings

1. Jeffersontown - JTown had the week off. They have a busy week scheduled with Highlands Latin, Whitefield Academy, Manual and Caverna.

2. Butler - The Bears defeated Male, Western and DeSales. WEB DuBois and Madison Central are on this week's schedule and both present intriguing challenges.

3. WEB DuBois - The Lions fell to the Atherton Ravens but got a bounce back blowout win over Fern Creek. They face Whitefield Academy and Butler this week. That Butler game should be very competitive and a DuBois win may signal their ability to make a run at the regional title.

4. Evangel Christian - The Eagles defeated Fern Creek before heading down to the All A State Tournament where they got bounced early by Clinton County. They face Moore this week.

5. Pleasure Ridge Park - The Panthers defeated LKY (homeschool) but fell to Fairdale. They face Doss, Waggener, and North Hardin this week.

6. DeSales - The Colts picked up wins over the Columbus Hawks (homeschool) and Shelby County before falling by 8 to Butler. They host Cooper out of the 9th region Wednesday and play Holy Cross on Friday.

7. Fairdale - The Bulldogs got two remarkable wins for two different reasons. First, they had a 41 point blowout victory over Western. Next, they defeated PRP by 9 in what is possibly their best win of the season so far. They face Newcomer Academy, Bullitt East, and Owensboro Knights Christian (homeschool) this week.

8. Moore - The Mustangs fell by over 50 points to Manual on the road but got the four point win over Bullitt Central. They had started the week off with a blowout win of their own over Shawnee. They have a road game scheduled Monday in Shelby County which will probably be cancelled but then they host Central and Evangel Christian.

9. North Bullitt - Wins over Holy Cross, Doss and Brown have stretched the Eagles' winning streak to 7. They face Waggener, Fern Creek, and Whitefield Academy this week.

10. Bullitt Central - The Cougars blew out Brown but fell to Moore by 2. They are supposed to host Meade County Monday before hostin Holy Cross Wednesday and Bethlehem Saturday.

11. Bullitt East - Bullitt East got wins over Whitefield Academy and Southern. They play Fern Creek and Fairdale this week.

12. Whitefield Academy - The Wildcats lost to Bullitt East but defeated Hold Cross. They play WEB DuBois, Jeffersontown and North Bullitt in a very tough week of games.

13. Fern Creek - Coming off an 8 day break from gameplay, the Tigers lost 3 in a row against tough competition as they were convincingly defeated by Evangel Christian, Manual, and WEB DuBois. They face Bullitt East, North Bullitt, and Iroquois this week.

14. Holy Cross - The Cougars lost to North Bullitt, beat Highlands Latin, and lost to Whitefield Academy. They face Bullitt Central and DeSales this week.

15. Valley -Valley picked up wins over Iroquois and Francis Parker and was shockingly close to knocking off Waggener, losing only by 3 Kyleel Foreman had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. They face Collegiate and Hancock County this week.

16. Southern - The Trojans lost to Waggener, Highlands Latin, and Bullitt East. They now face Kentucky Country Day and Oldham County this week.

17. Doss - Doss stopped an 8 game losing streak by beating Western. They have Washington County on the schedule Monday and have PRP, Kentucky Country Day, and Eastern the rest of the week.

18. Western - Western fell to Fairdale, Butler, and Doss last week. They have a scheduled game with MHG Prep Academy Monday and then have Seneca, Central and John Hardin the rest of the week.
